Elisabetta gave my family and me an absolutely personalised, hilarious and incredibly knowledgeable few hours of her time sharing the Venice that's a little off-the-beaten track. After 3 hours and a quick reboot in a great little coffee bar, Elisabetta felt like a friend and it was lovely to be here with someone who cares about her city and knows what happens behind the scenes for true Venetians. But she let us know lots of tips and practical info too: great restaurants, how the vaporetti (water buses worked), what her family had done here over the last few hundred years, where the best gelato was, and what an amazing if difficult city this is to live in. We laughed a lot and learned a lot too - a great afternoon I'd recommend at the drop of a hat.We had a last minute change to our tour guide due to an injury. We ended up having Denice as our guide. Excellent tour through Venice’s lovely backstreets and residential areas where authentic Venetian life really happens. Our guide, Martina, grew up locally and offered many interesting insights and historical tidbits. Get ready to walk several miles because although we used the vaporetto when possible, Venice is intrinsically a walking city with uneven pavement and many, many bridges.Elisabetta was a spectacular guide - full of information and stories, which gave context and provided an understanding of Venice.
