This was a wonderful walking talking tour full of birds, trees, culture, history, art and a cool coconut along the way. Cathrina is the perfect host with her environmental expertise and journalistic knowledge. You can choose to walk in shade or the open depending on the weather. So you’ll always be comfortable. The beach side is lined with many small restaurants and drink and snack stalls. So you can stop and relax at any point. The end of the tour is quite wonderful as you sit on the steps of a ‘surf stadium’ and see the place for the world record was set for the most number of surfers riding one wave. I learned a lot about the city and it’s very impressive history. It was also good to see that the guy who proposed the idea of this beach garden is honoured in a statue right in the middle of the gardens. It’s amazing how one persons vision can give, and has given, to so many others. If I return toSantos I’ll certainly visit it all again. Well worth the experience thanks for the tour DavidBem cuidados os jardins da orla de santos , mas não tem um colorido espetacular que esperava , ou seja : tem um bom e belo paisagismo mas o predominio só do verde deixa a desejar.

The Beach Garden borders the enter beach, providing a wonderful access point to the beach, as well as providing shade and facilities along the beach. Starting from the 4-6 lane oceanfront highway, interior side is all highrises. The beach side starts with about 10-15 feet red and white stone mosaic walkway, then bike lanes wide enough for 3 abreast. Then this green space, a public garden. Each of these purposed areas has areas in the sun, and areas in the shade, as well as adequate benches for comfortable seating. The Garden is supposed to be over 7km long, but if you walk the concrete pathways is got to be 1.5-2 times longer. The greenway design includes frequent stations with monuments, sculptures, fountains, even a little library. There are candle shaped showers and foot wash stations to wash off sand when returning from the beach, and from them you do not get more sand all over since you're walking to the green and paved areas. The lighting is really cool. It looks like ship masts. Along the beach are vendors for food and drink. Speaking of vendors, you don't need to bring your own beach umbrella and chairs. The vendors put them all along the beach. Feel free to sit for a few hours - food and drink is readily available and inexpensive. After the Garden area comes more walkways Then the awesome beach! This has go to be my all time favorite public beach access anywhere.
