Mary Carmen, our guide, was exceptional. She had an exuberance that made history interesting and alive. Her English was very, very good as well. We were able to visit many places before the cruise tour crowds arrived and some of the places they didn't go. A couple of places I hadn't specified for our tour because of time or lack of interest but she thought they were worth seeing and she was right!! She spliced them into the tour without compromising time on the places we wanted to see. Everyone in the group enjoyed this tour. Thank you for making our day in Santos delightful, interesting and fun. The van was very comfortable and our driver was good too.Mary Carmem with Gregtur Tourism gave us a very enjoyable tour of Santos which showed the city to be much more than the port for Sao Paulo. Mary Carmem with Gregtur Tourism gave us a very enjoyable tour of Santos which showed the city to be much more than the port for Sao Paulo. She clearly loves her city and wanted to show us what it has to offer. Being an archivist, her historical knowledge was extensive. We toured the interesting Coffee Museum and had a delightful ride on the old cable car to Monte Serrat for a view of the city. Mary drove us along the massive beach. We ate lunch in a lovely garden at the Gallery Benedito Calixto house museum and wandered through the museum. We had the most fantastic Day with Lize from Gregtur Tours. Lize is a world of knowledge, and has a deep love for the city which is very apparent in her exuberance. To start the day, we were met promptly at the Cruise Terminal and then into the private van for the 4 of us to plan the day. We st...
We had the most fantastic Day with Lize from Gregtur Tours. Lize is a world of knowledge, and has a deep love for the city which is very apparent in her exuberance. To start the day, we were met promptly at the Cruise Terminal and then into the private van for the 4 of us to plan the day. We started with a drive along the pier to an old coffee pioneer mansion that is now an Art Exhibit. We spent some time there going through the house and Lize knew all the hisotry as we went thru. From there we travelled to a viewpoint high above the city for panoramic pictures of the beach and cities all clearly visible. The beauty of our day with Lize was travelling to the "real Brazil" we saw only 1 tour bus all day at Monte Serrat, the cable car to the to highest point on the island. From there into an authentic Brazilian lunch hot spot where you are rubbing shoulders with locals on lunch break, and the food is buffet style and they weigh your plate. Pay by the ounce LOL... Conveniently across the street there is a market with a maze of little shops for unique gifts.... From there off to the Coffee Museum for another tour. Again Lize impressed with her knowledge as we went thru the museum and stopped for a coffee. At no point were we rushed by either Lize or the driver, and this 6hr tour was closer to 8hrs by the time we arrived back at the ship. I cannot say enough about Lize and her exuberance knowledge and passion for her city and her country. We met as strangers this am, and left as friends this pm.
