Route Duration: 2 hours
- Av. Pdte. Kennedy 5059 - Parque Arauco One of the most important malls in Chile and Latin America. Here you will find various products from the best brands, along with an entertainment center that includes an open-air boulevard with a wide gastronomic variety, cinema, theater and an Infocenter Turistik (located at the entrance of the boulevard) from where you can discover Santiago and its surroundings. Nearby is the Araucano Park, ideal for walking, touring, having a picnic and enjoying fresh air and nature.
- Isabel Montt & Avenida Bicentenario - Bicentennial Park This beautiful park, designed by the architect and landscape architect Teodoro Fernández, has an area of 27 hectares and stretches along the southern bank of the Mapocho River. It has two lagoons where black-necked swans, flamingos, herons and fish coexist, walking trails, an amphitheater where musicals, plays and other shows are performed, and an exclusive international restaurant called Mestizo. It is a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors and take one of the best postcards, which mixes nature and architecture.
- Los Conquistadores & Pedro de Valdivia Norte - Cable Car This is the closest stop to the entrance to the Santiago Metropolitan Park and Cable Car. It is only 5 minutes walking to be able to enjoy these entertaining attractions, such as seeing Santiago from the heights in the Cable Car and reaching the top of the San Cristóbal hill. On the way to the park you can visit the Parque de las Esculturas, an open-air terrain with more than 30 sculptures by prominent Chilean artists. Also in the sector is the historic Casona "Lo Contador", a beautiful building with Spanish influences from the end of the 18th century, which today is occupied by the Campus of Architecture, Design and Urban Studies of the Catholic University.
- Bellavista 52 - Patio Bellavista Bellavista stands out as one of the most visited sectors of Santiago, a must-see that mixes culture with entertainment. Patio Bellavista is a place that brings together art exhibitions, live music, theater, craft shops and a wide and exquisite gastronomic offer. This stop is 5 minutes from Parquemet (entrance through Pío Nono), where you will find the Metropolitan Zoo and panoramic buses that take you to the top of San Cristóbal hill, where you can connect to the Cable Car. In the surroundings there are also Plaza Baquedano, Parque Forestal and Bustamante, multiple bars and restaurants.
- Monjitas 821 - Plaza de Armas The Plaza de Armas represents the true heart of Santiago. This type of plaza exists throughout Chile, because when the Spanish established cities they used that point as the axis of their grid plans. From this Turistik stop, you can tour the historic center of the city, visiting the historic buildings that surround the square, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, Municipality of Santiago, Casa Colorada Central Post Office and Museum of Santiago, Former National Congress and National Historical Museum, among others.
- Teatinos 254 - Plaza de la Constitución Around this square you will find some of the most important buildings and monuments linked to the executive power of the State of Chile, among them, the Palacio de la Moneda, seat of the Presidency of the Government of Chile. Its construction was carried out between 1784 and 1805, it was designed by the Italian architect Joaquín Toesca and its original destination was to be the Royal Mint, that is the reason for its current name. You will be able to see and explore buildings and places of interest that include: Plaza de la Constitución, Palacio de la Moneda, Palacio de la Moneda Cultural Center, Metropolitan Administration, Santiago Stock Exchange, Club de la Unión, Universidad de Chile, Paseo Bulnes and Eighteenth Quarter
- Av Alameda Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins 440 - Cerro Santa Lucía has been one of the most important points since the founding of Santiago. On February 12, 1541, the monumental neoclassical entrance to the hill was finished in 1902 and harmonizes around a sculpture of the god Neptune an entire architectural ensemble with curved staircases, pools, a wide terrace and a triumphal arch topped by a dome. The set constitutes a very evocative image of the lifestyle of Santiago's high society at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. From the Turistik Santa Lucia stop you can see and explore places of interest that include: Santa Lucia Hill, National Library, Paris-Londres neighborhood, San Francisco del Monte church, Central House of the Catholic University of Chile and Lastarria neighborhood that has a strong cultural stamp where you can find art galleries, restaurants and cultural centers.
- Av. Providencia 969 - Plaza de la Aviación The Plaza de la Aviación is an extension of the Balmaceda Park, which was created in 1929 as part of the old Japanese Park, designed by the Austrian landscape designer Óscar Prager. Its current name is given in honor of the Chilean Air Force monument erected in 1980. In addition, in the square you will find a water fountain called the Bicentennial, which is almost 70 meters long and more than 25 meters wide, inaugurated in 2005 by the Municipality of Providencia. In this sector you can visit Parque Balmaceda and Parque Uruguay that are part of the green areas that run along the slopes of the Mapocho River. You can also walk along Providencia Avenue, a tourist sector full of life, which has different shops, restaurants, cafes and bars to enjoy Santiago.
- Tajamar & Avenida Vitacura - Costanera Center The Costanera Center is a complex that combines an experience of modernity and entertainment. With the tallest building in Latin America at 300 meters high, this imposing construction offers endless possibilities that start with its wide range of products in the largest mall in Chile, where some of the most important brands in the world are housed. world. In addition to its wide culinary offer, it has a terrace and a viewpoint, the Sky Costanera, which allows you to appreciate the city with privileged views. The enclosure also has a cinema and its surroundings, with the maximum expression of modernity and progress, in front of the new financial district of the city, also known as Sanhattan.
- Isidora Goyenechea & La Pastora - Las Condes Interactive Museum This stop is in the heart of the El Golf neighborhood, which gets its name from the fact that the entrance to the exclusive Los Leones Golf Club is only a few blocks away. Several of the mansions in the sector date from the mid-20th century and belonged to the family of the wealthy Isidora Goyenechea, the name given to the main street in this neighborhood. Around this stop you will find many restaurants and cafes, as well as the Municipal Theater of Las Condes and the Interactive Museum of Las Condes. We booked this tour directly from Turistik at the mall near our hotel on the recommendation from the concierge at the Marriott Santiago. We had been told that due to the situation in the area that they did not recommend going to the historic areas downtown but that if we wanted to go there, they could arrange it. We said no thank you and boarded at stop 1 at noon. We stayed on until stop 3 where we exited the bus and got on a different bus to go to the cable car that would take us up San Cristobal. We were told to present our voucher to the cashier to get our wristbands. It took a little time for us to find out that the cashier was in the snack bar. Once we had that sorted out, we had a nice ride up the cable car to the top. We walked up to the Virgin Mary statue, stopping at a church and enjoying the scenery along the way. We were told that our ticket included both the funicular and the cable car. So we took the funicular down which required standing in a line in the blazing sun for almost an hour. Once down I saw the HOHO bus on the corner and we walked over and got on. Big mistake. After about 15 minutes on the bus, I noticed sites not on the map. Sure enough, we were going through the area that we had been specifically told we could not go to and I could see why. Protests were in full swing. I asked the guide on the bus about it and she said that we would have to get back to the bottom of the funicular which would take an hour so we could go back up the mountain, walk over to the cable car, then back down to the bus. Once we got back to the funicular stop, we asked around to find out if there was an easier way to rejoin the correct HOHO route. We tried to hire a taxi but they were trying to rip us off (we were saved from that by a very nice Turistik worker). So we got in the line for the funicular, standing again in the blazing sun for about 15 minutes until a worker noticed my wristband and said we were in the wrong line. He walked us inside where there was a much shorter wait to ride back up to the top where we got to the cable car and back down the mountain. Once we had exited the cable car, we had difficulty finding the stop for the bus that would take us back to the HOHO stop. It wasn't marked and no one seemed to know where it was. We finally saw the bus coming and rode it back to the HOHO where we were back on track - after 5 PM. We didn't get back to stop 1 until well after 6 so we technically only had time for one hop off the entire time. We spoke to others who almost made the same mistake we did but were warned by the guide at the other HOHO bus that went to the historic district and they could backtrack much earlier than we did. Unfortunately we were not warned. So I will end this review by saying that they company needs to provide more explicit warnings upfront about what happens if you take the funicular down San Cristobal which is that you need to take it right back up the mountain. We missed some stops that we wanted to make because of the very long detour. I understand that some of this is due to the unrest in Chile but there is no excuse for lack of concise instructions or signage for the bus at the cable car.I cannot recommend this HoHo company. I cannot recommend this HoHo company. First, if you buy online in country, only one option is available. We bought that but at the funicular were told we had to pay for the funicular, gondola, and modern city tour. This doubled our cost, which would have been fine if we could have purchased that option online. As other reviews have mentioned, once you go up the funicular and over the valley on the gondola, you will have to walk several blocks to pick up the bus (this information is vaguely provided). Once we completed the HoHo around the newer parts of the city, back we went to the same place and were told we had to walk those same blocks, ride the gondola back over the valley, and take the funicular back down to continue the tour. This was a colossal waste of time. My suggestion: cab or Uber to the gondola, and walk up if the weather is nice, or take the funicular. Despite what others might say, we found the Old City safe to walk around IF you are vigilant about your belongings - backpack/purse/wallet in front. Don't rely on a zippered hiking pant pocket. A companion had that pocket slit from the bottom without his knowledge. There's so much to see in the Old City, and the HoHo bus isn't making many stops there now because of unrest. So, bottom line - patch together your own tour, and visit the Old City as well as the funicular up the hill. because of the uprising, they changed the route and all i saw were upscale neighborhoods and glass towers in the outskirts. there was no recorded narrative with historical stories like in other cities, just a hostess reading a script for each stop, short and mostly when a building was bullt. we were shown the first shopping plaza in santiago and stopped at others. I expected something very different. the ticket i bought came with a map of interesting spots. but id say for now, don´t bother unless shopping centers are your thing. The only reason I didn’t give this tour 1/5 is that we included the Gondola and Funicular option.
