What to expect
Day 1: Aurangabad to Ajanta Caves to Ellora Caves to Aurangabad
The tour departs from Aurangabad airport or hotel at 8 a.m. and covers a 100-kilometer journey to Ajanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves contain 29 Buddhist caves, which highlight ancient Indian history through beautiful paintings and carvings. After this, if you want, you can have lunch, and our driver will show you good restaurants. After lunch, the journey continues on a 2-hour drive to the 95-kilometer-long Ellora Caves, a complex of rock temples representing Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. The caves were formed between the 5th and 13th centuries AD and contain 12 Buddhist caves, 5 Jain temples, and 17 Hindu temples. After this, if you have time and want to see Bibi Ka Maqbara, then we will take you there. After sightseeing, the journey ends at the hotel or airport in Aurangabad.
Important Note: Ajanta caves remain closed on Monday, and Ellora caves remain closed on Tuesday. If your reservation is for Monday, then we will show you Ellora Caves, Daulatabad Fort, and Bibi ka Maqbara, and if your reservation is for Tuesday, then you will be able to see Ajanta Caves and Bibi ka Maqbara.
To go inside the caves in Ajanta, you have to remove your shoes and take the photo without a flash.
You can see Ellora Caves moving from number 1 to number 16, and then you have to take a bus to go to number 29 and number 30 to number 34. And in Ellora Caves, you can also go wearing shoes and take photos with a flash.

Mr Sherkhan was my driver and guide. He was polite, professional, helpful and accommodating. He also picked knowledgeable and experienced guides for Ajanta (Mr Nasir? I hope I got the spelling correct) and Ellora (Mr Ali) which enhanced my enjoyment of these sites.
