Salt Lake City Ghost Tour: Outer Reaches Tour
Overview
Travel around to the locations of actual hauntings, hear the details of what happened and bring your camera to see if you can experience them yourself.
We will not merely take you on a history tour of the city but a fully interactive adventure where you can experience the most haunted places in town. We get off the bus at almost all the locations to get up close and personal. This will allow you to try some of the ghost hunting equipment provided and to take pictures.
If you’re aching to go inside the buildings and get more intimate, we also offer Paranormal Investigations where you spend the whole time inside a haunted building at night, alone, and in the dark!

After receiving a Groupon for 4 as a gift, I took the Outer Reaches Ghost Tour with some friends. I chose that tour based on the current description on the website, which suggests the tour will "visit the dark shadows of where Ted Bundy once inhabited." My book club had just finished reading "The Stranger Beside Me" and I was super excited to see some Bundy locations on the tour. But...no such luck. The tour guide, Beloved, talked a bit about Bundy at the end of the tour, but we didn't see any sites directly related to him. We also didn't see the "Old Haunted Library" included in the description, or the "Old Fort Douglas" (unless by that, they mean the Fort Douglas Cemetery). It was really disappointing; honestly, it probably made the difference between 4 stars and 3. That disappointment aside, though, the tour was pretty fun. I learned several things about Salt Lake I hadn't heard before, including a spooky story about the city's Masonic Temple. I didn't get the feeling that TOO much research had been put into it (one story, about the old Cedar Tree, was modeled exactly after an urban legend and I'd be very surprised if it had been documented anywhere) and the tour overall was a bit rushed, but they were fun stories anyway. The bus also had cute decorations and the guide handed out EMF detectors, which was a nice touch. The only other downside was that the bus didn't have air conditioning. I don't know if this was a one-time thing or if their buses are always like this (and they were nice enough to provide cold water and some spritzing bottles), but UGHHHHH. If you're going to pack 20 people onto a bus in Salt Lake City in the middle of summer, you NEED air conditioning. It was incredibly uncomfortable and really detracted from the experience. All that said, my friends and I DID have a lot of fun, and I would consider taking another tour from Grimm. Salt Lake is a small city and the fact that we have a ghost tour company that operates outside of October is pretty cool. I'd just recommend double-checking what's on their website and maybe not going until the weather's a bit cooler, if you're sensitive to the heat.Paid to be uncomfortable in a crowded bus without AC They sent an email implying the AC being out was a glitch but after reading other reviews it’s apparent bus doesn’t have AC or it’s NEVER working. Paid to be uncomfortable in a crowded bus without AC They sent an email implying the AC being out was a glitch but after reading other reviews it’s apparent bus doesn’t have AC or it’s NEVER working. Tour was nothing more than a local spinning tales about alleged ghosts but we were not allowed access to where these ghosts are haunting which made the passing out of ghost hunting equipment a joke and quite useless. Totally overhyped and not worth the money paid. Bus ride was also very jarring and not smooth basically the bus was a POS.Received a notice the A/C was out on the bus prior to the tour like it was a one time only glitch but after reading other reviews its apparent the bus simply has no A/C ever. Received a notice the A/C was out on the bus prior to the tour like it was a one time only glitch but after reading other reviews its apparent the bus simply has no A/C ever. Plus during the tour was not allowed to explore inside any of the sites we stopped at. Stories were a bit long winded. Would have been better taking us to a local bar to hear the guide spinning his tall tales….at least it would have been more comfortable. Overall it was a dull over priced not at all scary experience. The “ghost hunting” equipment was a needless addition considering we were not allowed inside to “hunt” the so called ghosts. The people who run this tour are exceedingly nice! The people who run this tour are exceedingly nice! They take you to spots near the kill areas for Ted Bundy. That was creepy and everyone liked that a lot. But, like most ghost tours it’s more about the stories they tell you and not the actual things you see on the tour. There isn’t any going into buildings or really seeing noteworthy sites. Still, we enjoyed the evening.Amber, a Druid, was bit on dramatic side, which went with theme. Did visit outside of cemetery, per Utah law cannot visit inside place after dark. Amber, a Druid, was bit on dramatic side, which went with theme. Did visit outside of cemetery, per Utah law cannot visit inside place after dark. Also visited Masonic Temple, again from outside as it was after hours Did have only 10 people on tour, which made it great, host did pass out EFMs. Did go to site of kissing tree. Lavender story definitely entertaining. Did get a lot of background and information on Ted Bundy and got to go to site of met up and possible killing site of women. That was probably spookiest place. Bus driver great at job! Worth price paid, as information on all but Ted, not easily accessible. The stories were interesting, but too much time between sites. There was a bit too much focus on Ted Bundy
