What to expect
We depart from the Coast Marina aboard our custom-designed tour vessel in search for humpback whales, orcas (killer whales), porpoises, dolphins, sea lions, otters, bald eagles and a variety of marine birds while also learning about the local First Nation history and culture.

A wonderful day on the water, with access to indoor and outdoor areas of the boat the trip was very comfortable. We stopped to watch the whales in several places on our way with our guide, Holly, who gave us information about the whales. Then we travelled through the channels and islands with drop-dead gorgeous ocean-meets-mountain scenery as a backdrop for the entire trip, into Homalco territory (so beautiful exclusive resorts have been built there). In the traditional territories Cassie gave us language and history lessons about the people and their journey from pre-colonial to current times. We rode through the strong currents, into the bays filled with sea lions and eagles, and back through the stunning landscape, stopping again to watch the whales. The tour takes you to inaccessible and beautiful places filled with wildlife.It was an amazing experience. One fine day with the fine folks at HOMALCO. Fine vessel, comfy inside and out, just the right amount of salty spray, and first rate guide and captain. Homalco made the sea and forests come alive. Our Native captain shared the story of his people and his own experience growing up on the Salish Sea. Our guide was compelling, informative, and showed all of us a fine time. The vessel was large enough to handle the chop, and the the party was small enough so we could see whatever popped up on port or starboard. Even the humpbacked whales cooperated. And the Homalco folks conserve the treasures they have to offer. Highly recommend if you are looking for quality presentations, up-close moments, unparalleled scenery and wildlife-viewing adventure. Highly recommend this tour provider. The all staff were great from the check-in to the conclusion. We booked a 4hr whale watching and wildlife tour fortunately locating a pod of Orcas in no time and watched as they taught a juvenile how to hunt a seal. Shortly thereafter, the boat captain (Jerry) located 3 humpbacks in another area. Holly was extremely knowledgable and well educated in all of the wildlife and their activities we witnessed during the tour. Kelsey provided the information on the Homalco First Nation's connections to the area. This was the second whale watching tour we had been on. The previous time was with another provider, and while that was good, we thought this provider's services and teamwork were exceptional. We'll do it again!Very enjoyable adventure.
