Was the experience worth it? Yes. Were we happy with the process and expectations? Not at all. There was some massive massive miscommunication going on at best. Maybe it was the language barrier or maybe it was my fault for reading the previous review from 2019 that was slightly misleading without context. The words “tour” and “guide” are thrown around a lot in the description of this excursion and in the information sent from the owners of the company. Neither are really accurate unless you specifically hire a licensed “tour guide” that will either meet you at the locations where the driver drops you off or if they travel with you for the day. In the “What’s included” section of the viator description it has a check mark next to “English speaking driver-guide”…this is not accurate because the driver is NOT a guide. There is no such thing as a “tour” without a guide. There should be an “x” next to the word “guide”. If you pay extra maybe you can hire Vicky (the mom) or another independent guide but don’t be confused. There is absolutely zero point to spend the entire day driving to Corinth so you can stare at things you have zero clue about. The significance will be completely lost. We traveled around Europe for a month and had one day to see the impact that Paul had on the world and we almost canceled during the beginning of the day…luckily Pericles (the driver who was great and had amazing knowledge of Greek history) found a last minute guide in Corinth to help us out. Her name was Christina and she was amazing. Make sure you find a guide licensed in Christian history and Christian theology or the impact will be lost, you will waste your time and you will be extremely dissatisfied. My suggestion, do the stuff in Athens on your own and pack as much as you can in for the Corinth trip. It’s costs $150 EU for a one way trip out there with a random taxi so the cost of this excursion is probably worth it to have your own driver so you don’t have to feel like a herd of cattle following around a white flag jumping on and off a greyhound bus. The day that was advertised here was advertised as a 10 hour day and we were rushed back for a 7 hour day in total and we didn’t even get lunch. The itinerary the driver had and the itinerary that we paid for did not match. Make sure you lock down all the details with the owner and the driver so there is zero confusion in what you expect for the day. We only got 20 minutes in Acrocorinth when we probably could have spent a couple hours there since the hiking is a little challenging with the expanse of the area (and the slippery marble rocks) and with so much history there. To do this tour right you will need at least 8-10 hours. The fact that the family running the operation is Christian is irrelevant if they won’t be with you. Do your due diligence.BrownieNewOrleans

We wish TripAdvisor allowed us to give 10-stars to this truly outstanding private car and guide touring service! Our guide, Vicki Anastasopoulos, is a classically educated lady with four decades as a guide in Greece. Her English is impeccable and her knowledge extensive. As a lifelong student of ancient near eastern, and Greco-Roman history, I was beyond delighted to spend the day with a person who shared my enthusiasm. Vickie was able to give a full, edifying response to all our questions, and offered factual and incisive background. Her son, Costos, was an excellent driver, negotiating the roads incident to following the Apostle Paul's journeys in and around Corinth. Fluent in English, he shared with us his particular interest in an infrequently included seashore at Kehries, where Paul shipped out to Ephesus. We were greatly moved to stand on the shore and look at the apostle's view out to sea. Vickie walked us through the archaeological sites of Greek and Roman Corinth--words fail to capture our feeling standing on the Bema where Paul shared the Gospel with the Corinthians. Vickie's guidance was invaluable! She also guided us through the old and new archaeological museums and the early Christian church in the excavation. Costas did a fine job driving us up to UNESCO site AcroCorinth where we could see the largest castle in Europe. Whether your interest is archaeological, historical, or religious or, as in our case, all three, Costas and Vickie can provide a memorable day walking in the steps of Paul. They were very flexible in taking us to our particular areas of interest and, when we wanted to have lunch, providing an excellent stop at a restaurant providing delicious local food at a very reasonable price--no tourist traps! We highly recommend Athens Taxi Travel for a totally first class experience at a very fair cost!!!
