What to expect
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Museum and Crypt of Capuchins, Via Vittorio Veneto 27, 00187 Rome Italy
Your final destination is the Capuchin Crypt. Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4, 000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Here you will be free to explore hearing all the interesting details and the reasons behind such an unusual practice with your audio guide.
Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side – and you’ll never see Rome the same way again.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Catacombe di Santa Domitilla, Via delle Sette Chiese 282, 00147 Rome Italy
Your expert historian guide will explain how this network of sacred tunnels is associated with the first Christians in ancient Rome. You’ll descend into the labyrinthian corridors carved into the soft volcanic rock and discover the frescoes, strange iconography and burial places which doubled as places of worship when the Christians were persecuted.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Basilica dei Santi Silvestro e Martino ai Monti, Via del Monte Oppio 28, 00184 Rome Italy
When you exit the catacombs, your bus will take you back within the city walls to the Basilica of San Martino ai Monti. Near the edge of the Parco del Colle Oppio, this unassuming church dates back to the 4th century - it has been rebuilt over the years, but is filled with a great sense of history just waiting to be discovered. Stunning frescoes adorn the walls, from artists such as Pietro Testa, Matteo Riccione and Giannangiolo Canini.
Duration: 40 minutes

Going into the crypts on the first stop was definitely the coolest part, it was one of the highlights of our trip, we can’t believe more companies don’t try to offer this tour. It was an amazing blend of historical information interwoven with fantastic site visits. The first site was definitely the best but the other two were still worth it. The guides were great. Laid back, knowledgeable, and fun.Alain, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the catacombs and crypts. It’s not your normal tour, kind of spooky and creepy.

A visit to the catacombs will blow your mind, it is crazy that you only get to see 2-3% of what is down there but it goes on and on. The Cappucciun church with the rooms decorated with human bones is quite mesmerising. We enjoyed less the middle stop at a church and didn’t really see how this fit in with the other sights. It’s worth mentioning the description of the tour requests that you need a good level of fitness but this doesn’t really seem necessary.
