This is a 2 part review- part one is the actual trip which we thoroughly enjoyed. This was a 5. Due to shoulder issues we picked the no paddle trip. The rafting had quiet areas where you enjoyed the scenery and we saw bald eagles, osprey and a mink. There were many more rapids than I expected ( level 1-2+) and they were fun. It is a long day in the sun ( even 1/2 day) so I was glad I brought a water shirt. I highly suggest getting off the boat for a dip. The water felt great - not too cold. They provided lunch and it was delicious. I wish it could have been served 1/2 way through the trip versus near the beginning but I think that due to there only being an area with shade at that point. A really fun afternoon. Now part 2 gave the drop in point and was very upsetting. Two of the three guides drove 6 of us back in a van with poor ventilation. We were hot in the vehicle. That’s fine but IMO that means masks on fully the entire trip back (and is cited on the website). I requested this when I saw the guides and a client not wearing them. They said yup that’s company policy and pulled them up. Unfortunately within 5 minutes, they were either just over the mouth or fully off. I take COVID seriously. I did lodge a concern. I was very pleased the owner called me within an hour and addressed my disappointment in the situation. He is the reason the review is not a 3. I told him I didn’t want anyone to be in trouble just aware. I appreciate all he said to me. We all need to protect one another. Again great trip and hopefully even better now with safety in mind. Our guide 'Captain' Garrett took our large family of 9 [with 3 kids aged 6-7] down Hellgate Canyon and it was a rousing success. Our guide 'Captain' Garrett took our large family of 9 [with 3 kids aged 6-7] down Hellgate Canyon and it was a rousing success. While we were a little tentative introducing rafting to the young children, the kids had a lot of fun and at times went swimming and taking turns riding the bull. Hellgate canyon turned out to be flush with wildlife as we spotted a river otter, a couple of bald eagles, turkey vultures, and a kingfisher. Garrett was a gracious, and accommodating guide. As a hydrology major, he was extremely knowledgeable about the Rogue River and its wildlife. We wish him success in all his future endeavors. We can't wait to come back and do the 2-day trip next year. What a wonderful 1/2 day rafting with the family. Thanks to Becca for giving us quite an adventure. She is a joy. Highly recommended trip. We'll be back.

The only downside was waiting an hour to get picked up when we got done. I think the river was flowing faster than they expected?
