Overview

The trip includes a visit to the infamous bridge on the River Kwai, built by Allied prisoners of war (POW) during World War II. It includes a visit to a war cemetery containing the graves of an estimated 9, 000 Allied soldiers who died while building the bridge and constructing the notorious -Death Railway-. At the JEATH Museum, guests will see a replica of a Japanese POW camp, followed by a train journey along a stunning stretch of the -Death Railway-. A buffet lunch is served upon arrival at Wang Po station, close to the Burmese border.

The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (known locally as the Don-Rak War Cemetery) is the main prisoner of war (POW) cemetery for victims of Japanese imprisonment while building the Burma Railway. It is on the main road, Saeng Chuto Road, through the town of Kanchanaburi, Thailand, adjacent to an older Chinese cemetery.

The museum is divided into two sections, one depicting the construction of the Death Railway which is meant to recreate the quarters used by Allied POWs, and the other consisting of reconstructed bamboo huts containing such items as paintings, drawings, and photos of and by former prisoners, weapons, tools, and maps.

The Burma Railway, also known as the Death Railway, the Siam–Burma Railway, the Thai–Burma Railway, and similar names, was a 415-kilometer (258 mi) railway between Ban Pong, Thailand, and Thanbyuzayat, Burma, built by the Empire of Japan in 1943 to support its forces in the Burma campaign of World War II. This railway completed the rail link between Bangkok, Thailand, and Rangoon, Burma (now Yangon, Myanmar). The name used by the Japanese Government is Thai–Men-Rensetsu-Tetsudou (泰緬連接鉄道), which means Thailand-Myanmar-Link-Railway.

Tham Kra Sae Bridge is a historic railway located in Kanchanaburi and is also commonly known as Death Railway. The bridge was built by war prisoners of WWII. It received the name Death Railway due to a large amount of prisoners that died during the construction of the bridge. Now many people visit the bridge to learn about the history as well as view the incredible structure which is built into the side of a cliff, right next to the powerful Kwai Noi River.
