We'll pick you up at 9.30am from Wellington Station and shuttle you to the start of the trail
Stop At: Te Mārua, Upper Hutt, New Zealand

Stop At: Remutaka Rail Trail - Kaitoke, Unnamed Road, Kaitoke, Remutaka Hill 5018, New Zealand
Start point for the 18-28km ride at Kaitoke, recommended for those less confident or wanting to cruise and take their time. On the trail, you’ll start by cycling through the native bird-filled Pakuratahi Forest. Follow an old railway line over bridges and through tunnels, while pausing, if you like, to check out information stations detailing the enormous task of constructing the “Fell” railway system - a first for New Zealand at the time, and one of only a few around the world. Once you reach the summit, you will stop for a picnic lunch on a large grassy plateau next to the remnants of a historic station. After lunch, enjoy an exhilarating (but easily controllable!) descent to Cross Creek in the Wairarapa, with views of some of New Zealand’s stunning farming heartland.
Duration: 3 hours
Pass By: Wairarapa, Wairarapa, Greater Wellington, North Island
We'll pick you up at Cross Creek in the Wairarapa, before we shuttle you back over the Remutaka ranges, down the Hutt Valley and back to Wellington Station (arriving approx. 3.30pm)

We biked the Rimutaka cycle trail over 3 days in April as a family made possible by Dave Woulfe at Everyone's Adventure. Dave was awesome right from the first enquiry email - he was professional, responsive and made good suggestions with an itinerary and accommodation. Dave transported our luggage from place to place so we could ride freely. He was very flexible which gave us options throughout the trip. The trip is very manageable for those capable of 50 kms a day on a bike. Ocean Beach ride is spectacular, we were blown away but be prepared to ride, push, carry for approximately 10kms along the beach. This added to the adventure for us. Great to finish at The BikeShed where Dave was waiting with our bags. Couldn't ask for better service from an operator - first class!
We had a good time to bike even it wasn't mostly sunny. Green looked clearer and more beautiful under a little cloudy weather.
This tour gave us an opportunity to experience a true nature of beautiful Wellington.

You don't need to be an Olympic cyclist to do it - we saw a group of older people - one being 80 years old on the trail at the summit. Dave was super helpful in sorting us out with bikes, gear and recommendations on accomodation etc. Highly recommend.Even in the cold rain we had a blast. Isaac was a great host and did a wonderful job prepping us for the trail and for our first time using e-bikes. The lunch was good and we had plenty of food. We would love to come back and do this again!

With the all inclusive trip provided by Dave and company it was an easy day and a wonderful ride. I was looking to spend a day outdoors enjoying the hills and beaches of NZ. I found this outfit right here on Trip Advisor, and how happy I am that I found Dave. This was such an awesome day! It stared out with Dave picking me up, promptly, at my downtown Wellington hotel, at exactly when he confirmed with me the day before. Whisked me an 4 others up to the trail head. We were all in fact on different rides, but he was able to satisfy each riders levels with different rides on the day. My ride started over the summit to Cross Creek. What a nice easy ride up to the summit tunnel, and what a great intermediate ride down to to Cross Creek. As scheduled Dave was right there to pick me up and get me down to Ocean Beach for the last part of my day. From Ocean Beach, I rode along the cliffs and beaches over to Orangorongo. It was a great ride, with a lot of effort. This ride did take an intermediate+ ability, as it was over a lot of rocks, sand and rivers. But oh, how much fun it was. About 2.5 hours later, I arrived to my destination and as planned Dave was right there. I was gone from 9am-6pm that day, and the trip was worth it, a tremendous value. I would've expected to pay more. Of course, we had perfect weather, as it was Sunny the entire day with no winds. From what I hear, that happens only a few times a year in Wellington. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Wellington and David's Cycle Rimutaka. Thanks Dave!
