Quad Bike Tour on Black Lava Sands from Mýrdalur

What to expect
The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base.
The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders.
The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don't forget to bring your camera!
You will be provided with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride. No ATV experience is required to take part and the skill level for this activity is deemed as 'easy'.

- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund

It was almost a private tour with just another couple sharing an ATV as well. We did the express version of the tour which was just one hour but that was plenty and I saw everything I wanted to see! The suits they give you keep you nice and warm and riding on the ATV is comfortable, they are really nice machines and easy to control. A really great way to see the lava sands on a private beach and learn about the local surroundings. Highly recommend.This was the best tour of our trip. This was the best tour of our trip. Not only did we have fantastic weather that day but Anthony our guide was outstanding. He took us to some great places, allowed us to have loads of fun, and offered to take pictures for everyone when we stopped at various places. Really fantastic. We saw some breathtaking sights, crossed rivers, and had so much fun. This is a must do activity and do yourself a favor and book single riders. So much fun and thanks for the great food recommendation in Vik. That was outstanding as well.We had a group of 5, ranging in age 53-22, and we all loved it. It was one of our favorite excursions. Our guide, Anthony, was amazing. He was helpful, fun and patient. I highly recommend this trip, it was 100% worth it.
