Public Blue Dolphin Sailing Adventure
Overview
A trip to Tamarindo is not complete without a day spent on the ocean, and there is no better way to enjoy the beauty and wonder of the Costa Rican sea than aboard the Blue Dolphin, a 40-foot sailing catamaran. Blue Dolphin is the original sailing tour company in Guanacaste, operating continuously since 2004. Whether you're traveling solo, with family and friends or as part of a large group, the Blue Dolphin crew will make you feel welcome and part of our family, so come aboard, relax and enjoy the ride.
Tours during high season are likely to sell-out, so book early.
Reservation cut-off times:
*morning tours are 5 pm the day prior to the tour.

What to expect
Itinerary
From Tamarindo we will head North up the coast for about 1 hour while we will enjoy delightful drinks, spectacular scenery and the possibility for spotting for sea life such as whales, dolphins, turtles and rays. Then we will moor in a cove near Playa Huevos for water activities including:
* Swimming
* Snorkeling
* Kayaking
* Stand up paddle
After the water activities we return to the boat to enjoy a delicious, light meal around 3:30 PM. Once the food service is complete we weigh anchor to head back to Tamarindo. All the while you’ll enjoy our good music, perhaps a little dancing, and likely an amazing sunset. We’ll deliver back to shore just after sunset.

• Tamarindo Beach, Tamarindo Costa Rica

We had a great time it was 17 of us. It was about 30-40 mins from our Airbnb. The Tamarindo traffic is insane. One thing though you have to take a lil boat out always to get to the actual ship. That seemed to be a lot with kids but otherwise decent excursion.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary in Costa Rica last week. It was a wonderful trip! But this "sailing adventure" was the lone miss. Rather than a relaxing sunset catamaran dinner cruise, it was an alcohol-filled, music blaring, tightly packed, 5-hour booze cruise. They should just market it as that and I'm sure it would still be very successful, but the current description is extremely misleading. Pretty crazy that kids can go. I'm glad ours weren't with us. The snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming lasts for about an hour. The description also says this trip requires good weather otherwise it will be cancelled. Also misleading. The second half of the trip was in a torrential downpour with thunder and lighting all around us. Kind of unsettling. I get that weather in Costa Rica can be tough to predict, but by no means was it safe and it absolutely should have been cancelled and refunded prior to leaving. And I assume they knew bad weather was coming because they never raised the sails. And what does the crew do when the wind, rain, and lightning get worse? They just start pouring shots into everyone's mouths and crank up the music. Our request for a refund through our travel agent went unanswered. If you're looking for a booze cruise party, this is your trip. For everyone else, make better use of your precious time in Costa Rica.sandrineaW2967NI

Met a lot of people our age, the food was great, music was a nice touch, and even though it’s rainy season we got lucky and it didn’t rain!

Swimming and snorkeling was great fun. The staff was awesome! They had a welcoming nature and served us well. The food was yummy. It was a great trip!
