The tour of public art by tuk-tuk was an excellent introduction to Jacksonville. Toni, our guide, knows her stuff! She gave us a great tour of art and sculpture by local and international artists. We started with a mural near their office, of two figures painted the length of a silo by Australian artist, Guido van Helten. I thought that this artwork was magnificent in its realism using only three colours. The tour continued to enthrall from there, with each artwork of a high standard and all very different. I was very impressed by Jacksonville’s public art. I was also impressed by the tuk-tuk. It was a much more sophisticated vehicle than those I’ve travelled in in Asia. I highly recommend this tour company and Toni as your guide.Who knew that Jacksonville had so many cool public art installations? Who knew that Jacksonville had so many cool public art installations? We saw some terrific art (murals & sculptures) that you might not otherwise see, let alone recognize that they are a part of a public art initiative. Our tour guide was great. She had so much knowledge about each piece that we saw. I have no idea how she remembers all of those details. Maybe it’s magic? This is a great tour if you like art. Especially pop-culture art or modern art. A couple of FYI’s: If you have never been in a TukTuk, be aware that it is like a souped-up golf cart. Crash protection and safety features are minimal (and they drive on city streets). TukTuk’s ususally seat six (as did this one), although they are generally better suited for four adults. Also, all of the seats faced forward, which was nicer than the back to forward “bump your knees” style tuk tuk seating that we had been familiar with. The tour was awesome. Toni was a wonderful tour guide. It was nice to see all the work done by these very talented artists 🎨.
