Meet your professional guide at your central Shanghai hotel. Enjoy the comfortable ride to Zhujiajiao water town, one of the best-preserved ancient towns near the city. Choose the flexible morning or afternoon departure based on you schedule.
Upon arrival, begin to explore the town with your guide, spend some quality time to visit the old stone paved alleyways, walk up ancient “Fang Sheng Bridge”, see interesting local street markets, historical landmarks, colorful handicrafts etc. learn the fascinating custom and culture from your knowledgeable guide. Famed as the “China Town” in Shanghai, spend fun time explore the area with its charming Ming and Qing Dynasties architecture, take a walk at nine lucky zigzag bridge in the middle lake of the town. Choose to visit the elegant ancient Chinese garden built more than 5 century, immerse yourself in the beauty of the classic gardens dotted with ponds, pavilions, exquisite rockeries, trees, flowers etc.

Wow, just had the best day with our guide Rita. She took us to the Zhujiaiajiau water town which was very beautiful. We had a relaxing ride in the gondola and we then had the opportunity to buy gifts in the many local shops, including some pearls which we bought at a very reasonable price. We then went to the Jade Buddha Temple which was well worth a visit and Rita was very informative, making this more interesting. It was a calming and spiritual place to be. Finally, we went to the Yu Gardens, walking through the Old Town to get there. Rita and our driver were very flexible and allowed us to change parts of our itinerary during our tour. From being picked up punctually at our hotel, comfortable private transport and absolute gem of a tour guide, Annie, our first day in Shanghai will always have special memories for us. The tour started in Zhuijiajiao water town, walking through narrow streets with many shops selling all kinds of souvenirs and food including beetles etc on skewers.The walk was followed by a short but delightful river boat ride. Then we went back to Shanghai and had lunch in a smart restaurant where we had a typical Chinese meal, sweet and sour pork, beef, vegetables and dumplings all eaten by using chopsticks (we were useless so we quickly asked for cutlery). Following lunch we drove along the riverside area called the Bund, Annie knew that we were going back there the next day so we didn't spend any time here although she did point out places of interest. Next was the Yuyuan Gardens and shopping area, very crowded and as we had been in a typical old house with family antiques and pretty gardens in the water village we decided to give this a miss. Went to the Jade Buddha Temple, lucky enough to see the Buddhist monks go to prayer. The day was jam packed with interesting places, facts and brilliant knowledge from Annie. We couldn't praise her enough. You always have doubts as to what service you are going to get but after our tour we can assure you that these excursions are well organised and well worth the money. Sunny was a fantastic tour guide and spoke great English and was very knowledgeable. The Zhujiajiao tour allowed us to get a feel for a water town without having to spend the whole day there. This allowed for us to explore the key sights in Shanghai with Sunny, which was much better with a guide. We had a very tight schedule in Shanghai, that was shortened even more by the weather, so this tour helped us fit in everything we wanted to see in and around Shanghai in a short time frame. One side note, many tours offer lunch that is just "ok", but our lunch was at a very nice restaurant with fantastic food.Wanderer824269

We were a party of three with only one day to visit Shanghai after arriving there on a cruise ship at 7am. Sunny Tours arranged to meet us at our hotel at 9am. Our guide Ruby and driver promptly met us at the hotel, and we started our journey to Zhujiajiao Water Town. I had been to Shanghai on business years ago, but the Water Towns are a completely different experience than the big city. We walked up and down the canals of Zhujiajiao, crossing bridges and stopping at small sidewalk shops. We took a private small boat ride around the canals. Ruby explained much of the history and relevance of the town, and also took pictures which she later kindly sent to us. After the Water Town, we went back into Shanghai and Ruby walked us through some wonderful areas where there was shopping and food. We ate lunch at a 100 year old restaurant which served the famous "dumplings." We walked through the old "French Concession" area, and some beautiful gardens. This tour was thorough and broad... it was really wonderful, and Ruby was a magnificent guide! I would very highly recommend this tour!Mfk513
