Touring since 2003, Burgundy Discovery has built relationships that enable us to open doors and organise visits that truly go behind the scenes. With a focus upon small Independent Winegrowers who produce high-quality wines, we do not visit larger, more commercial wineries. We are a small team of qualified WSET graduates, who take pride in the quality and professionalism of our tours, as evidenced by our reviews.

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Puligny-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
We will drive through the vineyards and ancient wine villages of Côte de Beaune to the great Grand Crus of Montrachet, where will stop to discuss terroir and classification of our wines.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Santenay, Santenay, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
Visit an Independent Winegrower, meeting in their vineyard where they will explain their Domaine. Walk to the Cave where you will taste 6 wines with the grower - a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir selection from Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet and Santenay, including Premier Crus.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Monthelie, Monthelie, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
Visit an Independent Winegrower in the hidden gem of Monthelie. Tour their ancient winery and cellars while they explain their winemaking practices. Taste 5 wines from Meursault, Monthelie, and Beaune, including Premier Cru.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Volnay, Volnay, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
Take a break for a relaxing traditional lunch in a local restaurant (not included in the tour price)

Visit the Grand Cru vineyards of the Hill of Corton to explore the changes in terroir and landscape to the north of Beaune

Stop At: Vosne-Romanee, Vosne-Romanee, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
Travel north through the Côte de Nuits passing through Nuits St Georges to the village of Vosne-Romanée to see the iconic vineyards of Romanée Conti, La Tache and more. Visit an Independent Winegrower to taste 5 wines - Premier and Grand Cru

Stop At: Beaune, Beaune, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
Return to Beaune via the Route des Grand Crus.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to spend the day with Patrick this past September. This was a perfect introduction to the geography, history, culture, and terroir of Burgundy. Patrick had an encyclopedic knowledge of producers, crus (pointing out La Tâche, Richebourg, etc while outside our first stop in Vosne-Romanée). We visited two smaller, family run producers in addition to one larger producer. Each different but all outstanding. We purchased wine from each producer, and Patrick helped ensure all of our wines were picked up by their shipping partner (including a follow up email weeks after our tour to ensure there were no issues). The lunch in Levernois was exquisite. The day after our tour we cycled south of Beaune, and we were provided directions and an itinerary with suggestions of restaurants and producers to stop at. I cannot say enough about Patrick and Burgundy Discovery. We been on tours in Alsace/Bordeaux/Northern Rhone/Montalcino/Chianti/Rioja, and this was easily our best experience. We cannot wait to return to Beaune, and spend another day with Burgundy Discovery.Z2800ZJadamg

Honestly, hands down, this was the highlight of our European adventure. We were staying in Beaune and organised a small group wine tour (6 people) - Patrick, our tour guide, was very hospitable and his communication for pick up was very easy. The tour itself was a special experience. Patrick has so much knowledge on the history of France and Burgundy, on the wine making process, the details of all the appellations/Burgundy wine traditions, and his food/wine mixing passion. His ability to tailor the trip to the groups preferences was fantastic. All wineries that we visited were excellent, the quality of the wine was special and the lunch at one of the wineries was top class. This is a true experience of Burgundy and Beaune. We were looking for a laid-back but informative tour in which we'd try a wide selection of wines and learn about the region and specific winemakers. Burgundy Discovery and our host Joy was spot-on. We were picked up and dropped off in Beaune and in between spent the day sampling 15+ wines - both red and white. Joy provided context and useful anecdotes at each step along the way. Joy also served as our professor for the day in viticulture, Burgundy history and much else. Would definitely recommend Burgundy Discovery to friends!kymsmith4
