Stop At: Mazatlan Van Tours, Mazatlan 82110 Mexico
After picking you up at your hotel/cruise ship, you will head north of Mazatlan to visit the village La Noria, where you will see the local activities being done the old fashion way, leather belts and leather sandals being handmade, small coconut purses and a variety of souvenirs all made while you watch, wooden horse saddles being carved by hand and a local artist working the pottery.
Not far from this village is La Vinata where you will drive through acres and acres of the blue agave plantation to arrive to the tequila distillery where you will be briefed on the ancient and current process of producing tequila. This tequila factory is unique because it maintains its old equipment that was used in the 1800's for you to witness both processes, and then to sample their product. From here it's off to the charming village of El Quelite one of the most picturesque towns in the area with the colorful houses, cobblestone streets red roofs and relaxing environment. This town is known for its cock farm where you can see the roosters first hand, with a stop at the local bakery with an adobe brick oven offering freshly baked pastries.
Then it's time to head back to the center of the village El Quelite where you can enjoy a delicious local lunch, then wander a bit around the plaza and church before heading back to Mazatlan. This tour is highly recommended to enjoy the beautiful sights and to learn about a lot of the culture and history in this area of Mexico, comfortably in your private van/suburban.

Our driver, Carlos was so knowledgeable and interesting as he told us about the locatonos we visited. Van was very comfortable and with the use of their mic's it was easy to hear. We would have liked to spend a little more time in the village and see some additional shops but the leather articians were great. The Tequila factory was great. Maybe the best thing was the resturant that Carlos recommended truly a true Mexican meal in an amazing location. Would recommend this to anyone. We had a great tour with Jose! He was very personable and shared a lot of interesting information about the region. We loved the town of El Quelite and the lunch was amazing! I went with my family including a toddler and everyone enjoyed the trip. Would highly recommend.

Father and son, guide and driver team of Jesus Senior and Jesus Junior did a fantastic job. Especially after the glitch that the original tour guide thought that May 28, 2023 was Monday and not Sunday. When he didn't show up after a 30 minute delay, I had to call the tour operator to find out what happened and that's when they realized the tour guide had the wrong day of the week and booked himself for another tour. The tour operator did find us Jesus Sr. and Jr., but by this time, we lost 1.5 hours of the morning and by the time we arrived at the tequila factory, Jesus Sr. actually had to take us on the tour himself. The same at Puenta de Canoas, where the dancing horses are. Jesus Sr. was able to ask them to put on a show for our group, which they did.Friends experienced a fantastic tour on our stop at Mazatlan. 5 of us took this private van tour on 9/27. Really looking forward to going to El Quelite so we could eat at the amazing restaurant they have in El Quelite. That's the main reason we even booked this tour. Once we got in the van, the driver told us we would not be going to El Quelite because the bridge on the road to El Quelite was out, had been out for quite a while and they didn't know when the bridge would be fixed. He said the only other way to get there was rough dirt roads way out of the way. We did the other two villages, the tequila tour then back to Mazatlan for lunch. Before you book this tour make sure the bridge to El Quelite is fixed.Had a wonderful tour on our Princess Cruise. Carlos was an excellent tour guide. He was personable, educated about the area, and enjoyable companion for the day. Would highly recommend to anyone on a cruise and looking to do just a little more than walk around the cruise port. Great value.
