It looms over the "Blue City" from its lofty position atop a rocky hill where it was built by the ruling dynasty of Rathore Rajputs.
The Museum consists of seven Period Rooms i.e Sheesh Mahal,
Phool Mahal,
Takhat Vilas,
Sardar Vilas,
Jhanki Mahal,
Dipak Mahal,
Moti Mahal and six Galleries namely, Howdah Gallery, Palanquin Gallery, Daulat Khana, Painting Gallery, Textile Gallery and Arms Gallery.

Jodhpur is by far the best city we have experienced in Rajashthan. Our guide Ram Niwas ji knew what kind of places we wanted to visit and experience. We did the Mehrangarh fort and the blue city tour with him. He not only explained the history of the place, also took us to many old temples. He also suggested such fabulous places to dine where we could experience breath taking views of the fort in the evening.
