A great experience, relaxed, interesting, and totally flexible to our schedule. Felt like spending a day being shown around a friend’s hometown, going to many places we wouldn’t have found on our own. John was very patient with our two kids also, and they really enjoyed the day.

I've been to Ipoh lots of times for food. So this is the first time I've availed a tour to get to know Ipoh on a different light! Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable and give details that only locals will know. he brings us to places that we usually passed by but he have insights that we've never known before... yet he says "can google lah". He also took us to restaurants that serves good food but really affordable. Told us interesting stories about places and spots. And he got good sense to manage our tour time well. Highly recommended tour and guide for Ipoh!Stumbled upon this tour on Tripadvisor after reading quite a number of great reviews. It did not disappoint. It was a private tour. Stumbled upon this tour on Tripadvisor after reading quite a number of great reviews. It did not disappoint. It was a private tour. We were picked up at our hotel by John (spacious MPV) and brought us to an authentic breakfast place (Curry Mee, Wantan Mee , Chicken Hor Fun and White Coffee of course). Then, we headed for the Ipoh Heritage Walking Tour. John was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of trivia along the way which we find very interesting. After the morning walk, we headed to the Sam Poh Tong Temple (stunning Japanese Garden) before heading for lunch (Chicken Rice - yummy and affordable), then went for Kellie's Castle after. Since it was already around 330 when we left Kellie's Castle, we assumed that we will head home already as the tour was only supposed to be for 8 hours (ending by 4pm), but John even brought us to Perak Cave Temple. We were supposed to go to Kek Long Tong but there was a long queue so we decided to opt out. The Perak Cave Temple was a good alternative. Amazing Cave temple with Stalactites and Stalagmites, too bad we didn't manage to climb to the Pavilion (as it was already late when we arrived - last entry was at 330pm). Overall, this is a highly recommended tour. We've been to Ipoh a few times and this was the first time, we've booked a tour. This was a good alternative to go around the city with a relaxed paced and with a local bringing you to hole in the wall eateries (everything was arranged for you :) ) Thanks to John for being flexible and accommodating. Our family of seniors & children enjoyed our tour with John who shared so much history & culture with us. Thanks for an enriching day learning about Ipoh!

A fun day, good weather. Only spent time at temples and Kellie's Castle as I had done "Old Town" a few days before. Loved the slower pace. It allowed for a greater appreciation of the temples and their history. No rushing about trying to get it all in. Simon was an excellent guide and very willing to engage in conversation and answers all of my many questions and curiosities.
