Stop At: Horton Plains National Park, Ohiya 22200 Sri Lanka
Leave the hotel around 5.30am and set out on a trekking excursion to Horton Plains.
Horton Plains forms an undulating plateau over 2000 meters high, which consists mainly of grasslands interspersed with patches of forest, with some unusual high-altitude vegetation.
The plains are more often visible only before 10.00am due to the heavy mist, which engulfs the area.
The most unique feature of the Horton Plains is the "World's End". This is a sheer 1, 000 feet vertical escarpment which visitors throng to see. The Horton Plains was once the hunting ground for Mr. Farr, a former British Governor which is today home to rare species of fauna and flora.

We really enjoyed the tour of the national park. Our driver and guide Prasanna picked us up on time, drove safely and was able to tell us all kinds of things about the national park and wildlife. Besides many bird species like the Sri Lankan White Eye we also saw the "Bear Monkey" (Purple-faced Langur) and many other great animals. We also saw the national bird of Sri Lanka!
