I had a 9 hour layover in Narita, and I considered exploring Tokyo for a little bit on my own. Oh my goodness, I am glad I didn't! Even with some experience as a solo traveler, I would have never made my way around Tokyo. Chantal was a gift! She showed me a sweet local market on the edge of Tokyo, and then into the heart of the city for a quick peek and a sushi lunch. She was able to communicate on my behalf because I don't speak Japanese. I wrongly assumed Tokyo would be English language friendly. It is not. She was also great about answering my questions, talking about local custom, sharing about her home life, and even turned my shopping into a learning experience by telling me about the pottery and designs I was looking at. I think Chantal made the most of what we did, but I don't feel like I got much of a flavor of the city. I kinda wish I had done a food tour or bus tour instead. I'm not sure if I gave carte blanche for City Unscripted to fully design a tour would have been better, or did more research and was very specific about what I wanted to do or see in the short time. Any which way though, if you do not speak Japanese, I would say that having a guide is almost a must. I was very grateful to have Chantal!gunner2412

Giovanni arrived on time and knowing I had knee problems, came with some supports to help with all the walking we had to do. The supports were very helpful. As this was our first visit to Japan he managed to show us various facets of the Japanese way of life. During the day we were shown old and modern Tokyo. He introduced us to the complex metro system which stood in good stead for the rest of our stay. All in all we found him to be informative and attentive. We would definitely use this company again.
