Private Segway Tour from Royan to Pontaillac
Overview
A circuit at a moderate pace. Ideal for discovering Royan and the Pontaillac district. Your guide will introduce you individually to the pleasure of the Segway. After a short time of learning and a good grip, here we go!!! You will start the tour quietly on the Waterfront, where your instructor will train you in the intuitive driving of the Segway Segway. Once you have taken your machine in hand, you will admire the port of Royan from the Foncillon district, before entering the Chay district. Then follow your guide along the coast where he will explain the history of the city to you through many places and monuments to finally arrive in the famous district of Pontaillac with its casino overlooking the beach. Several stops will be proposed to you to take souvenir photos, before the return which will be done by the same route.

The Royan waterfront is a modernist architectural ensemble located in the town of Royan, in the Charente-Maritime department. Characteristic of the first wave of reconstruction of the city in the immediate post-war period, it is still tinged with a certain academicism.

Grande-Conche beach is a fine sandy beach located in the towns of Royan and Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, in Charente-Maritime, on the right bank of the mouth of the Gironde estuary, immediate proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Approximately 2, 600 meters long, it is lined with extremely fine sand, around 180 µm. Its formation seems to have taken place around 8, 000 years ago.

Foncillon beach is a sandy beach located in the town of Royan in Charente-Maritime on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, in the immediate vicinity of the Atlantic Ocean. It is located between the Pointe du Chay and the port of Royan opposite the Palais des Congrès. The beach is classified in the third category "Supervised Beaches", the Lifeguards are present from the end of June to the beginning of September continuously from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Le Chay is a residential area of the city of Royan. Located in the western part of the town, it adjoins the districts of Foncillon and Pontaillac. It is home to two small “conches”, or beaches: that of Chay and that of Pigeonnier.

The emergence of seaside tourism and the fashion for “sea bathing” led the municipality of Royan very early on to consider the creation of leisure establishments. Frequented by the Bordeaux bourgeoisie, like its "rival" Arcachon, then by Parisian high society, Royan thus acquired five casinos, of which only one remains today. Some of these establishments were considered in their time as architectural feats: thus, the "Casino municipal", erected in 1895 by the architect Gaston Redon, was until its destruction in 1945 the largest casino in France. In another register, the modernist Casino of the architect Claude Ferret, destroyed in 1985, was one of the flagship monuments of the agglomeration due to its avant-garde character.
