The Pottery Garden BVI is a serenely welcoming and beautiful place to be! The pieces themselves are unique and creatively inspired! My favorite part of this experience was learning how to use the spinning wheel. Karl was such a great teacher and his love and knowledge for his craft was clearly evident. I especially loved his helper, his son Kem, who confidently knew what he was doing even at such a young age! It was beautiful to see the support and help his wife Cristal also gave, sharing her insight and also encouraging while he instructed. The entire experience was fun, educational without being overwhelming and even left me with a few life lessons! I would definitely recommend this experience to everyone and would absolutely do it again! Can't wait! This has been the best out of water experience I have had on Tortola!!!! This has been the best out of water experience I have had on Tortola!!!! Karl provided an excellent demo at the wheel with very thorough instructions and hands in assistance. As you can see my husband and I didn’t make masterpieces, but had a blast! We have been laughing about our terrible creations knowing full well we are having them shipped to us and will likely paint them and display on the mantle. Fellas, my husband had a ton of fun too. Karl offers hand building creations with clay also. We have been stuck on the Great British Pottery show and had to take a turn at the wheel. This experience is appropriate for children also. Also, Karl will show you the garden and kilns which are also cool to see. Thanks for the fantastic experience Karl!!!!Spent the most delightful morning learning pottery with Karl and touring the garden and gallery hosted by his wife. Spent the most delightful morning learning pottery with Karl and touring the garden and gallery hosted by his wife. I was able to try both modelling and wheel methods and finished with an adorable bowl to bring home. I also picked up some beautiful artisan pieces to bring home (or have shipped if you pack light). When booking ask to include a tour of Tortola, and shuttle services to pick you up anywhere on the island. Saw some incredible sights and learned much about the local history and community. I highly recommend this excursion for its fun, thoroughness and professionalism. Pottery Garden is an excellent local business and wonderful experience to have in the BVI. Dont miss this even if you are not artistic since the basic and advanced classes are available. The classes are relaxing and fun. The local shop has a variety of wares for sale, while the garden holds a variety of local fruit trees. Scheduling over whatsapp was easy and convenient. My husband and I had a private wheelthrowing lesson where Carl broke down the steps and we were able to make 3 pieces during the session (a cup, a dish, and fruit bowl). The experience was a great way for my husband and I to tackle a creative project together and support an amazing local business. At the end of our session we not only had a great time, pieces of artwork, and pictures but they also provided a compilation video of our experience to us a few days later. Great memories! The Pottery Garden is located on the north side of Tortola by Josiah's Bay. There are 2 well placed signs from Pottery Garden that point the way, but the last stretch of road can be muddy after heavy rain. Carl and Crystal also shared they are expanding soon to a larger kiln for bigger pottery projects as well offering more food on location besides drinks.
