We booked this tour through Viator where the description says this is a “private” tour. There was nothing private. You are on a boat with many different tour groups and eat with the other groups. You also have to pay to use the bathrooms on the island, pay to get a lounge chair and pay to walk the paths on the island. At over a hundred dollars per person I strongly feel a visit to the bathroom on an all day tour should be included. Island is total tourist trap. Lots of excursions from cruise ships. You only get to snorkel for 30 minutes the entire day. The gist shop tried to fleece me on the currency conversion and doubled the price of a pack of tampons when I called them on it. I wouldn’t spend the money…..Daniel and Marcos were delightful and very attentive. Served fresh cut fruit on the boat ride over to the Island…stopped in the way to snorkel. Served a great lunch on an uncrowded beach…. Would highly recommend….

We had a great day with Marcus and Daniel! This was a small private tour with great service, which avoided the large crowds. Daniel was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and surrounding islands. We fed an entire family of monkeys and saw a hawksbill turtle. Lunch was delicious! We were on a cruiseship visiting for the day, and were back in plenty of time. I would definitely use this your operator again. Thanks for a great day!Seeing all the beautiful islands on our way to isla Tortuga was an awesome experience! What made the experience unique was that my family was the only family on the boat tour. We spent two week in Costa Rica for second time and ran all over the region for various tours and this was by far our favorites. We had such an amazing time. We are going back this year with our teenagers and will absolutely be booking it again for all 6 of us. Worth every penny. Our captain (marco) was an absolute blast. The whole team was professional, very bilingual, took great care of us, made sure we had everything we needed The boat was in great shape, snorkeling equipment was good clean and easy to use. The crew was engaging. The only recommendation that I have is pay attention to the email that you going to receive from the owner, where they provide the google location of the restaurant and a photo of their guide. It is very important that you wait at the entrance of the restaurant since, unfortunately, near there is another company that, in order to sell you the tour again, will comes to you and will tell you that the company does not exist, so I recommend to pay attention to the information that you will receive from the owner, and be careful with people who are not part of the company. To start with the positive: the crew was friendly. The boat was set up to hold about 12 people unlike the other companies that hold 20 or more on same size boat. They were very flexible based on what people wanted. Snorkeling pretty decent. To start with the positive: the crew was friendly. The boat was set up to hold about 12 people unlike the other companies that hold 20 or more on same size boat. They were very flexible based on what people wanted. Snorkeling pretty decent. Not world class (no fault of tour operator of course) but good and very little current. Nice beach area on Tortuga island with lots of tour boats in the area. Neat rock formations with photo ops from the boat. We didnt see dolphins but we live in Florida and see them all the time anyway (once again, no fault of the tour operator). Did see monkeys which is neat. Now the negative: first and foremost I booked a private tour and was assured by e-mail that would be the case. It was not. 2 other families were on the boat so I clearly paid too much as well. Also, as other reviews have noted about finding the place, apparently there is no place. I was to meet in front of a restaurant. There is a small dock directly across the street but it is not theirs. You have to crawl down a rock embankment and board from the beach. No big deal for us but elderly or infirm it would be impossible. Finally, we were to meet them at 8:30, again verified by an e-mail they sent me, we arrived at 8:05 and waited. At 8:45 I asked another tour operator if we were in the wrong place and he was kind enough to call them so they could come back and get us. Apparently they had already left! I have done many tours in CR over the yesrs and they are typically very well coordinated. this one not as much. If you have read this and are ok with it do it. Its fun. It just would have been nice to have the proper info from the outset.
