Overview

Hiroshima has a dark past that precedes it but other than the infamous A-bomb dome site, there are a few hidden gems that only a local would be able to show you. From Yamato Museum where you can learn about the largest battleship in the world and explore a collection of authentic relics from World War II with the Kure port as your encompassing sea views. If submarines are more up your alley, the JMSDF Kure Museum awaits, four floors designed as a huge submarine make the outside as intriguing as the inside. Try their famed Navy Curry as you bite into history, with its origin inside the battleships of the Meiji Era, more than a century ago.

Our handpicked hosts are culinary connoisseurs and history buffs, bakers and bankers, students and seniors. Like the people who travel with us, they have different backgrounds and interests – but they’re all so passionate about the place they call home, they choose to spend their free time sharing it with the like-minded travelers matched to them.

The night before our tour, our guide canceled. Maryam did not look at her college schedule and realized she had classes during our tour. She dipped out last minute. City Unscripted was unable to replace Maryam. We turned to other tour operators that were booked out for a week. A week later I am s...

Our host John is incredibly knowledgable and because of him we enjoyed a tremendous day in Hiroshima. We learnt about history, culture and literature. John is highly educated and flexible, this was time well spent!

Disappointed, there doesn’t seem to be a entry level the tour guides need to be at. The tour guid doesn’t think he gets paid enough, possibly why he wanted me to pay for everything, including his food and drink after our tour ended. I could do a tour the same on my own. We didn’t get to see what ...
