This company is amazing. We had three young children and Herb was our guide. From beginning to end everything was wonderful. They were safe and fun and just good people. Don’t miss out on this group of people.

This was our family's first canyoneering experience and couldn't have been happier that we chose Desert Highlights! Jake was a fantastic guide, leading our family on two canyon tours. We have kids ages 10, 12, and 14 and he was extremely supportive and encouraging throughout the entire trip, giving our kids confidence on this new adventure! We learned a lot about the area, rock scrambling and rappelling from our time with Jake. This is one of our favorite experiences of any vacation we have taken together and one my kids can't stop talking about. Melissa also did great job of working with us to pick which tours were best for our family and providing us information as we prepared for our trip. All around great people and great experience with Desert Highlights.I booked this activity for my 20 something adult kids and it did not disappoint!! First, Melissa was amazing. I booked this activity for my 20 something adult kids and it did not disappoint!! First, Melissa was amazing. She accommodated our schedule and even called another outfitter we had booked for later in the day to coordinate activities. She was super friendly and tailored the trip to fit the "kids" ability. They could not stop talking about the experience. It was definitely the highlight of the stay in Moab. Highly recommend!!!!!!Jake is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, interesting conversationalist, and good at explaining things. He's really perfect for the job. Jake is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, interesting conversationalist, and good at explaining things. He's really perfect for the job. Oh and b/c he's done this tour a lot, he knows exactly where/how to take the pictures of us. I looked into ~6-8 companies before booking, they all do this same Medieval Chamber 1/2 day trip. Some say the Morning Glory Arch is a 120 ft rappel -- Desert Highlights advertises it as 100 ft - but they all rappel from the exact same place so go figure. The advantage of DH is that it's private so it's pretty flexible and we can go at our own pace. For a family of 4 the price is comparable to the other companies. This was definitely one of the main highlights of our week-long trip. My kids had a blast, they didn't even mind the hike out which by the way is down the scenic Grandstaff trail so you don't actually loop back where you started.I can’t say enough good things about Desert Highlights. My husband called the office to ask about the different adventures offered on the website. He spoke with Melissa, one of the owners, and pretty much decided he wanted to do everything! I can’t say enough good things about Desert Highlights. My husband called the office to ask about the different adventures offered on the website. He spoke with Melissa, one of the owners, and pretty much decided he wanted to do everything! Because we only had half a day and a variety of abilities in our group, we settled on a tour called “Mid-Evil Chamber.” The adventure involves two rappels and a hike through Grandstaff state park. We met Melissa at the office in downtown Moab. She is delightful! She is fun, smart, outgoing, and safety-conscious. Our group of 4 loaded into her car and drove a short distance to the starting point. From there we hiked to the first rappel. Two folks in our group had never rappelled before. Melissa explained everything and demonstrated exactly how safe it was. The first rappel was into a cave-like space. The second rappel was longer and right next to a beautiful arch. After the second rappel Melissa led us on a beautiful hike through Grandstaff state park. The park is very different from the other parks in the area. It has a natural spring, and we walked along a steam. Melissa knows all about the area and the plants and rocks, etc. At all times I felt that Melissa was safety-conscious and totally in control of the situation. She is a born teacher. You can’t go wrong with Desert Highlights.Melissa made the whole experience fantastic! After a short drive and an easy hike we came to the first rappel. Melissa explained the process in detail putting everyone at ease. Super fun, great exercise, and a perspective of the canyon few others get!
