Overview

Glasgow is an incredible city with a unique heart. It is famous for shipbuilding, for football and for being the Second City of the Empire, but the thing that really makes Glasgow special is her people. Your tour is led by a Glasgwegian and will give you a distinctly Glasgwegian impression of the city. Anyone can learn from a history book, but your tour guide comes armed with the stories from their aunts, grandmothers and great grandfathers and will take you beyond the guide book and deep into their world.

This amazing city, in which they were born, bred and brought up, is their passion and they see it in a way that is totally personal and entirely unique. On your tour, you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with Glasgow's history, hearing about not only the famous names and faces, but also the lesser known stories of the ordinary people who made this city great and make its history special.

This is a typical itinerary for this product

Pass By: Glasgow Cathedral, Glasgow Royal Infirmary Castle Street, Glasgow G4 0SF Scotland

Buchanan Street is an absolute treat if you have an interest in architecture! Even if you don't, there are some excellent secrets hidden behind these buildings and some wonderful stories that will have you falling in love with Glasgow!

Duration: 10 minutes

Pass By: Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow Scotland

At this stop, you'll meet one of Glasgow's most iconic sites and hear the story behind the Man With The Cone On His Head! You'll also learn how Glasgow grew from simple fishing village to become the Second City of the Empire during the 1700's and see how this era has left a lasting mark on the city and its people to this day.

On this stop, you'll hear all about the deprivation and squalor that the residents of Glasgow endured. This is a working class city, with a working class history and here you'll learn about the waves of immigration into the city and the ways in which Glasgow's position as a global community has changed not only the people of Glasgow, but the world in general.

Pass By: River Clyde, Corta Glasgow, Glasgow Scotland

Our final stop is arguably the most important. Glasgow built the Clyde, and the Clyde built Glasgow. Life in Glasgow grew and revolved around the river, with shipbuilding making and breaking the fortunes of its citizens. Some of the most famous and innovative vessels to ever sail were Clydebuilt and the rise and fall of Glasgow's shipbuilding industry is the tale of this city.

Our favorite part of the experience was all of the insights and love for the city of Glasgow that our guide was able to share with us. Getting to learn from a local about the city's colorful history and current conversations was definitely not something we could have replicated on our own. Thanks...
