Private Climbing OR Hiking Experience in Cheile Turzii
Overview
There are 2 alternatives for this tour:
a) the adventurous one, where we climb the via ferrata from the gorge;
b) the easy one, where we hike through a lot of scenic viewpoints above the gorge.
You can specify which option you prefer when you book a tour.
The climbing is very easy (no technical experience required), starting from the river level and making our way up the gorge, passing through a vertical cave called "Grota lui Hili". The via ferrata is one way only, and the climbing down will be made on a hiking trail.
Alternatively, if you have fear of heights or you are not a big fan of adrenaline, you can choose the hiking option (b). The views are just as breathtaking.

What to expect
A via ferrata ―an Italian term which means ‘iron path’― is a protected climbing route, built with a steel cable rail affixed to the rock, metal steps, ladders, suspension bridges and zip wires.
Although it sounds hard and dangerous, it is rather simple and enjoyable. No previous technical experience is required, but we advise against it if you have fear of heights.
Safety equipment will be provided by us, as well as an unforgettable experience.
This activity consists of the following steps:
1. Equipping everyone in the parking lot and providing safety and technical tutorial (20 mins)
2. Hiking through the gorges to the start of the via ferrata (15 mins)
3. Exploring a small fortified cave right next to the via ferrata (15 mins)
4. Climbing on the via ferrata using the provided equipment (2 hours)
5. Photo session on top of the via ferrata (20 mins)
6. Hiking back to the parking lot on a marked trail (40 mins)

As we were first time via ferrat'ers we had no idea what we are getting in to, but he clearly explained us everything we needed to know and helped us along the way by calmly pushing (sometimes literally) us forward. There was no rush and whenever we got tired or didn't know how to proceed he was there to help us. We think that if you feel a bit more adventures this defiantly beets the other offers we saw for this location. You can challenge your fears, see the park in unique and thrilling way. We drove with a rented car. He gave us the location for meetup and took us to the park and dropped us of afterwards. We loved the challenge and most of all the feeling of accomplishment after the climb. As for tips - maybe you should be able to do a pull up 1-2 times to make it easier, come on a weekday (as there were no other climbers and we could take our time), get a beer with Tudor at the parks restaurant after the climb!The climbing tour at Turda Gorge with Tudor by far exceeded my expectation. A good physical condition is recommended, but it is worth the effort, the nature is formidable in this canyon. You can make a reservation with confidence, you will not be disappointed.
