Our friendly Marine Biologist will share in-depth knowledge of the area, local points of interest & encounters we experience within Byron’s Marine Park.The migration of whales is a significant feat & a spectacular event to witness as they frolic & breach. At more than 2, 500-kms, this is considered one of the longest migrations in the animal kingdom.

What to expect
Itinerary
Humpback Whales are seen along the coast between Ballina and Cape Byron. Where we visit is dependant on where the whales are. Our Marine Biologist guide will provide fascinating commentary as you take in the breathtaking views and whale encounters. It is also likely to spot other marine and bird life during the tour, such as our resident pods of dolphins. We are so sure you will spot a whale that we offer a whale guarantee, or return for a free trip!
Please meet on the Lance Ferris Wharf directly in front of the Wharf Bar & Restaurant, 12-24 Fawcett St, Ballina (if Brunswick Heads is closer for you, please select our other Whale Watching listing departing from Brunswick Heads). Someone will come to collect you and take you down to the vessel where lifejackets & waterproof ponchos will be supplied.
We will conduct a short safety briefing before we travel briefly along Ballina's Richmond River and head out into the Cape Byron Marine Park on our Premier Whale Watching adventure.

Best whale watching tour in the Byron shire (and probably in the whole of NSW). Can't recommend this more highly - the staff go out of their way to make sure you have the best possible experience with the whales. The skippers are super experienced, putting you in the best location to view the whales (making sure the whales are also safe and not disturbed) and the onboard marine biologist is super knowledgable which adds so much to the trip. The opportunity to see these incredible creatures in the wild is so special, especially while being able to learn more about them. Can't wait to get back out there!antonysE3362OR

The trip was everything I expected and more ! Outstanding scenery and surrounds, super friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent boat handling from the skipper making the trip super safe and stress free. Would highly recommend!

My wife and I had the most splendid day. We arrived at the boat and were greeted by the very handsome captain Dean. The weather was a little rough but we were never worried in the very safe and comfortable boat. The captain really knew how to handle the big boat through the bar. Once we were out in the ocean we were soon greeted by a beautiful bunch of whales, woooowweeee did it take our breath away. Such majestic creatures, their beauty and elegance is something to see. One of the large mammal breached and nearly jumped over the boat, absolutely amazing. Unfortunately after an amazing few hours we returned safely through the bar guided by the expert captain. We said thank you to the very knowledgeable staff and returned back to our accommodation with such a vibrating excitement of what we had experienced. We can not recommend this trip enough. I’ve already booked again. 10/10 we had a “whale of a time” Thank you.NattyVDL
