Plitvice Lakes Day Trip including Entrance from Istria
Overview
Journey inland through the scenic Croatian hills, arriving at the heavily forested Plitvice Lakes National Park – almost on the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina. Admire how the park's 16 crystalline lakes seem to almost tumble into each other across the landscape.
Follow the 18km of wooden bridges and pathways around the lakes learning all about the local flora and fauna from your knowledgeable guide, and often being escorted by hosts of beautiful butterflies. Explore the lakes by foot, and also take a pleasant boat journey across Kozjak, the park's largest lake. Without doubt, one of the highlights of the excursion is a trip to the magnificent 78-metre-high Veliki Slap waterfall – the tallest in Croatia.

It was a VERY long day and A LOT of walking, but the views are worth it!! To get there, we traveled through the different areas of Croatia & our guide was amazing and shared history on each of the areas we passed through (which I wasn’t expecting). We actually had 2 guides on our trip and they both took very good care of our group. I’m so glad we went! It was a day I’ll never forget & now I have a new phone background 😁I did a small group tour with Roundabout from Zagreb to the Plitvice Lakes with a brief stop over at a scenic village along the way . I did a small group tour with Roundabout from Zagreb to the Plitvice Lakes with a brief stop over at a scenic village along the way . Well worth it. Stjepan Klaric , the guide was great . He kept us hooked on the region , the nuances and the culture and answered all our questions with ease. Before the trip started Roundabout treated me to a free walking tour of Zagreb with the same guide . That was brilliant. It was a long day but well worth it. We were lucky as it wasn't to busy so queues were short. The guide was very good.

The Plitvice Lakes and waterfalls are stunning and definitely worth the long journey. Our guide was also very helpful. We just wish that we’d been advised to take food with us as there was very little opportunity to buy food and the quality of what was on offer at the service station stops and park was very poor.
