Overview

A beautiful town in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, Pitigliano is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and Orange Flag.

Also nicknamed The Little Jerusalem, because starting from the sixteenth century it hosted a large Jewish community within its walls, Pitigliano is now one of the most fascinating historic villages in Italy and an unmissable stop on a trip to Tuscany.

Perched on a tuff cliff, the town rises imposingly on the valleys of the Lente, Meleta and Prochio streams, offering a wonderful view of the wild and unspoiled nature of this area of the Tuscan Maremma.

The imposing facade of the Cathedral is characterized by the presence of four large pilasters, in the center a large travertine portal surmounted by some 18th-century stuccos depicting Cherubs holding the Cross. On both sides of the portal, there are two niches inside which are housed the statues of St. Paul, on the right and of St. Peter, on the left. on the tympanum there is a bas-relief depicting Maria Assunta with San Rocco and San Francesco, made of Carrara marble.

Very enjoyable history . We were able to go into the caves of the Etruscans. The Jewish museum was interesting but rather sad.
