Pisa tour by bike : The Road To The Sea
Overview
Along the new cycle path “Trammino” you can discover the seaside of Marina di Pisa. This is a perfect tour for families and for those who want to ride safely and quietly, between the countryside, the pine forest and the sea.
This route offers amazing landscapes, such as the Mouth of the Arno (Bocca d’Arno), characterized by the presence of “scales” and “retoni” (large fishing nets placed on wooden constructions similar to stilts) and the characteristic tourist harbor.
Along the coast it is possible to stop to take a swim, taste good fried seafood and an excellent ice cream.
This is a tour a tour where the real stars are you, the sun and the sea!

Since the shop was just a quick two-three minute walk from Pisa Central Train Station, we had no issues with getting our bikes. We arrived thirty minutes earlier than our start time at 10:30am, and the store owner Elena and her associate had us set up with bikes by 10:50. The Road to the Sea was a lengthy journey. We took about forty minutes biking there with e-bikes, and it was fun navigating the streets of Pisa with their roundabouts and bumpy roads. Once we got on the bike path to the sea, it was smooth sailing. We saw lizards, farmlands and animals, and once we got to the sea, we found some jellyfish, starfish, and crabs on the beach too! It was a lovely quick trip to the beach. I’d highly recommend if you have a day to spend in Pisa!We were running late for our slot and contacted the operator on Whats App. They were very accommodating. We were running late for our slot and contacted the operator on Whats App. They were very accommodating. We arrived early for the new time but they happily set us up with lovely new bikes and very detailed instructions on how to get to the Leaning Tower and to the sea. Also pointed out some must see spots around the city. The ride to Pisa Marina was fabulous. We rode through the city for the first couple of kms then joined the flat path all the way through farm land. 15kms each way - not for the faint-hearted. The rocky white marble beach and asure water were a treat and worth the ride! NOTE: They close btw 1.30 -2.30 for lunch. This was a wonderful experience! I had not ridden a bike for over 25 years, but the path to the marina was so easy, so we’ll laid out and signposted, and so safe, that it didn’t matter that I was inexperienced. This was a wonderful experience! I had not ridden a bike for over 25 years, but the path to the marina was so easy, so we’ll laid out and signposted, and so safe, that it didn’t matter that I was inexperienced. We wheeled our bikes out of the busy area to the start of the cycle track; it took less than 5 minutes and felt the safest way to start. The vendors were lovely and gave us lots of advice and recommendations for places to eat :-) In short, I would recommend this to EVERYONE, no matter how long it’s been since you’ve cycled! Suitable for families, couples, singles. It was the best thing we did in Pisa.
