Best cooking class we have ever had. The class of 4,5 hours starts with meeting Diana in front of their family house + where the cooking class takes place. Diana guides you to the second biggest local market of Arequipa where you can, maybe for the first time during your time in Peru, manage to get out of the tourists bubble. She is very joyful and is glad to answer to any additional questions you might have (regarding food, culture, architecture, Lima Vs Arequipa matters, etc.) in addition to her general explanations. Once back from the market, you are welcomed by Patricio who has been a chef for almost twenty years in restaurants, hotels, big corporations both for touristic cuisine as well as for locals. While Patricio guides you through the ingredients and the processes, you can not only see the fire of passion in his eyes but also be completely immersed in the joyful world of food. Diana is always at your side and takes lovely pictures while also translating the explanations of Patricio into English (in case you are not fluent in Spanish). They are very synchronized couple who teach you many basics of the art of cooking while you prepare your delicious dishes. There is no rush included. You take your time. Both Patricio and Diana take their time to help you, explain and demonstrate. Then, you get to enjoy your delicious dinner with the company of these two amazing beings. oh also, there are some suprises included! By the end of this wonderful experience, you get your diplomas (as says the couple, no class is truly completed without getting the recognition of a diploma) as well as a nice farewell gift with the Recipes ! Again, best cooking class we have ever had and definitely recommended!Diana and Patricio took us through the evening in such an authentic, warm and professional way, with such good delicacies, great recipes, local insider knowledge and stories, that this cooking class will stay in our memories for a long time. Diana and Patricio took us through the evening in such an authentic, warm and professional way, with such good delicacies, great recipes, local insider knowledge and stories, that this cooking class will stay in our memories for a long time. We learned about "exotic" vegetables and fruits at the local market, practised flambéing and got to drink by far the best Pisco Saur. We have been to a few cooking classes in different countries but none have been comparable!!! If you want to have a great, fun and exciting cooking time with fantastic food, then you are in good hands with Diana and Patricio! This is a must do activity for anyone who enjoys cooking or would simply just like a fun evening with friends. This is a must do activity for anyone who enjoys cooking or would simply just like a fun evening with friends. The market tour was very informative with lots of goodies along the way. The Chef made sure all the members were informed and took his time to demonstrate safe techniques for cutting and cooking. As far as the food is concerned it was genuinely one of the best meals I have had in Peru in terms of flavor and ambiance. I HIGHLY recommend this if you have a free evening in Arequipa.
