What to expect
Enjoy a guided loop hike on some of the best Palm Springs hiking trails on unmarked trails known mainly by locals, so not nearly as busy as other hiking trails in Palm Springs. From these hills we'll have amazing views of the desert valley all the way up to the beautiful mountains that surround Palm Springs. I'll point out & talk about the plants & how the Cahuilla people used them for medicine.
We'll stop and visit my favorite viewpoints along the way & enjoy some of the best views of the Coachella Valley, perfect for taking pictures.
We'll see the windmills, Joshua Tree National Park, the San Jacinto Mtns, Mt San Gorgonio (the tallest mtn. in So Cal at 11, 503 ft.), Palm Springs & other desert cities that make up the Coachella Valley. Next we'll head downhill into a small hidden Palm tree oasis that's in a canyon, not in Indian Canyons. (See my new hike that's in Indian Canyons). During the winter the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep come down to the desert to give birth, hopefully we'll see some if you're here then.

Additional information
- Not wheelchair accessible
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems

- No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Not recommended for people that are recovering from surgery, have vertigo, balance/mobility issues, bad knees, or very afraid of heights. If you've got asthma bring your inhaler, if allergic to bees bring your EpiPen.
- Everyone should be at least moderately fit & healthy, not good for sedentary people. The hike is a few miles long with an elevation gain/loss of about 1300 feet & sections of trail that are rocky, uneven & have loose dirt/rocks typical of Palm Springs hiking trails. The hike lasts approximately 3 hours with most people I've noticed, but I've done it in just under 2.5 hours with experienced/fit people and it's taken just over 3.5 hours with less experienced people. Wear shoes with good traction (no sandals). Dress for the weather forecast for comfort, layers are good, bring a hat, sunglasses & sunscreen even in the winter the sun can be pretty strong. Please take lots of pics but briefly no long photo sessions. Please don't be in a hurry to get the hike over with cause you have other plans immediately after, I will only go as fast as the slowest person for their safety & comfort. There are no restrooms here, but I carry restroom supplies. If booking for others please make them aware of the physical requirements above for their safety/comfort.
- If the hike is on a warm/hot day each person must bring an electrolyte drink and a salty snack.

Excellent hike. Carlos was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the desert plants. Great views and a good pace, not too strenuous through it was quite an elevation change. We got to see big horn sheep and great views over the valley including the Bob Hope house. Would recommend to anyone visiting, if you’re wanting to get out for a hike but don’t really know where to go and how to do it safely. We did not see any snakes (early February) or any other wildlife apart from the big horn sheep, which was great if you’re not a fan of reptiles. The whole group had fun chatting to Carlos and to each other.Seeing 14 Big Horn Sheep and their yearlings cross our trail within 50 feet of our group. It was incredible!!

This hike was the highlight of our trip to Palm Springs. The somewhat strenuous trek up the mountain is well worth when you see the views of the valley below. Carlos is a wonderful guide and has a wealth of knowledge about the animal and plant life in the area. He is also very kind and patient- we had some in the group who took a little longer to get up the trail but Carlos would always wait and adjusted the pace of the hike. I also appreciate his communication before the hike. He let us know where to be and what to bring and answered any questions via text. We got some great pictures from the hike because he knows all the best spots for a photo. He was also kind enough to send us photos that he took along the way. We got lucky enough to see a herd of big horn sheep at a close distance. All in all it was a great time. I would highly recommend this hike! The views of Palm Springs and surrounding area were great! No better way to start your day than a brisk hike.
