We had a special private tour with Hector as our guide. It was fabulous. He was extremely knowledgeable about the site and Mayan culture overall. A do not miss experience! Especially with Hector. His English is perfect. A totally enjoyable day.

Eram DESLUMBRANTES. Palenque is such a nice place to visit. We stayed the night before in a hotel nearby so we were able to visit Palenque in the morning, before all the tourists arrive from Villahermosa, San Cristobal and Tuxtra Gutierrez. Also, since it is located in the jungle, visiting in the morning allowed us to miss the hot and humid weather. Only 2% of the ruins have been discovered so it is impossible to imagine how the place looked hundred of years ago. Due to the pandemic, no one can climb the ruins to avoid being too close to others but still, the ruins are amazing from the ground. The trails through the jungle are great too and you can see cascades and rivers. If you take bananas, you will not be able to get rid of the monkeys! Hire one of the guides once you enter the ruins area, much better price and you can help locals.
