What an experience!!! When you first get there it looks a lot of people and a tourist trap but these folks are serious. When get in the boat (which is an experience itself) and get to the interaction are it really starts to come alive. We had three animals from 25 to 30 feet long (I’m six feet and felt like a dwarf). Your not supposed to get near the animals but they end up bumping you which was really neat. Take lots of pictures and videos (no lights or flash: not needed) and don’t be afraid to interact but do not reach out and touch. This is a fantastic experience for adults and kids that can swim even if they just hang on to the boat.It was a magical moment to swim with the whale sharks. It was a magical moment to swim with the whale sharks. You can do this activity without engaging any tour operators. We reached there at 9.30 on a Monday morning. The registration and briefing was clear and easy. We only had to wait for about 15 minutes before rowing out to swim with the gentle creatures. My only regret was to rent the GoPro and ask the boatman to take videos of us. He kept on ordering us to pose in front of the whale sharks, hence shortening my time swimming with them. I took quite a number of decent photos/videos of the whale sharks with my own handphone. The sea is nice. The experience so unforgettable specially when you see the shark closely to your face it's so amazing I want to go back here soon....

Unfortunately we got to the Oslob and realised how unethical the whole experience was. Firstly there was hundreds of people queuing for tickets and after a quick Google we found out that the sharks are given food to be attracted to the watching spot. Feeding them is really bad for their migration and many Whale Sharks get hurt on the boats at the spot. We decided to not proceed with the tour but the company wouldn't give us a refund so we had to pay for the whole thing. Very disappointing.I’d heard and read lots of mixed reviews about the whale shark snorkelling/watching in Oslob, after an excessive amount of research we decided we’d book through our hotel and see for ourselves. I’d heard and read lots of mixed reviews about the whale shark snorkelling/watching in Oslob, after an excessive amount of research we decided we’d book through our hotel and see for ourselves. We paid 200php for the transfer there and back per person than a further 500php for they actual snorkelling. Our driver took us to the briefing centre where we had to queue to buy tickets, you can see the boats and where the whale sharks are as you’re queuing. I’d perviously read they are like ‘Pets’ kept there purely for tourist upon arrival you can CLEARLY see this isn’t the case, yes there is ONE net which is there for the boats to attach to so you can get in and snorkel. It’s a 30minutes snorkel for everyone you have three/four boat men with you. They do chum the sharks guiding them up and down the boats so everyone gets to see them. If one dives down deep they let it out of the net so it can leave. They aren’t kept as pets they come in the morning for food and leave again after. There is no forcing them, poking them or any poor treatment. Our driver said there is 400 around Oslob at anyone time we saw 10 they aren’t captured. They all looked very healthy. I’d highly recommend this, definitely get there between 4:30am-5am there is alot of people we didn’t queue for long and we managed to watch a lively sunrise. They give you the snorkeling kit. Well the staff on the boat are the ones taking the pictures and videos. They did a really good job. The activity is only 1000 pesos so I really recommend the go pro. When I looked a it after, i missed so many moments since it’s really intense. Go early, before the busses of tourists.
