One of the places I most wanted to see, when my fiancée and I visited Taiwan in 2018, was Taroko Gorge. Enter Ivan, who provided the perfect experience! He knew all the best locations, the best views, the history thoroughly and even how to beat the tourist traffic. As we perched on dizzying heights, gazing upon orange-roofed pavilions while Ivan described the region's fascinating past (and waited patiently while we took yet another photo), we knew we’d made the right choice. You cannot go wrong with one of Ivan’s tours – I cannot recommend him enough! We still have the photos hanging on our living room wall.Ivan made our trip totally memorable and fun! Ivan made our trip totally memorable and fun! We totally customized everything and had a blast. First, he took us to get yummy steamed buns at one of Hualien’s most famous stands (the line at 8am was already about 30 minutes), but the savory/sweet balance and fluffy, meat filled buns were worth the wait! Next, we detoured to the container-box Starbucks to check it out. While we were there, there’s a Happy Farm nearby with horses, deer, and peacocks, oh my! Our kids enjoyed seeing the animals up close. The main attraction, of course, was Taroko National Park. It was beautifully green & ephemeral with the foggy most rising above the mountain sides. Ivan shared interesting facts and history about each place and knew where the most scenic spots were to take us. After lunch in the center of Taroko, where we also met red-faced monkeys just roaming free, we spontaneously decided to go paragliding along the coast. Ivan took us to a place near the entrance of the national park and before you knew it, we were paragliding with a bird’s eye view of Taroko, Hualien City, and the Pacific Ocean! It was a truly unforgettable and fun, easy-going day with a great tour guide! Having Ivan take us around made all the difference!
