We were looking for a different experience for our stay in Athens and we decided to try this one. It ended up being a very fun, interesting and well organised morning. The guide was a prepared personal trainer who gave us insights of the historical context, alongside the physical warm-up and exercises. The activity consisted on a sort of easy pentathlon to challenge ourselves and a few exercises about discus and javelin throw. The day finishes inside the stadium (the ticket is not included, but I recommend not to miss this part. It's 5€ and it includes an audio tour you can complete afterwards. It was good fun, highly recommended. This was a great experience lasting approximately 3 hours. This was a great experience lasting approximately 3 hours. We met our guide outside the original Olympic Village from 1896, we learnt a load of facts about the ancient Olympics, we were put through our paces with some fun warm up activities. We then moved on to the second venue to learn how to throw a Javelin, Discus and Shot Put as well as the ancient long jump technique, each time with a little friendly competition thrown in. We then moved on to or final stop the impressive Panathenaic stadium where we learnt more facts and experienced racing on the hallowed track. The tour ended in the Olympic museum in the bowls of the Stadium. Our guide and coach Evi was brilliant. We are a very sporty family; 2 high level gymnasts (older teens) and 2 triathlete/marathoner adults. Evi ensured the tour was physically challenging and set to our level yet fun, light hearted and full of interesting information. I have no doubt that whatever the abilities of the group Evi knows exactly how to set the challenges accordingly so that everyone has a great time.We had a great 2 hours with our tour guide, Tonia. We then made our way to the Olympic Stadium where we learned more about it's history and was able to run a lap. My sister, my 12-yr old daughter, and I did this tour with Evi. She was wonderful - super energetic, knowledgeable, and fun! It started with some light exercise in the park where we met, and then we walked over to an area with a basketball court, an indoor gymnasium, etc. Here we practiced and competed against one another in the long jump and throwing the javelin, discus, and the shotput. Each of these was surprisingly difficult! For the last part of the tour, we walked to the Panathenaic stadium. The stadium was built in all marble and is absolutely stunning and complete with a view of the Acropolis from the top of the upper level. We did a loop around the track as a relay team and then went to the indoor museum, where our tour ended. Throughout the tour, Evi was super engaging and knowledgeable about exercise in general, the proper form for the ancient Olympic sports, and the history of the ancient and modern Olympic games. We had a wonderful time learning about this aspect of Greek history from Evi in a unique and novel way! I highly recommend this tour to others. The trainer was fun, energetic and knowledgeable about both history and fitness. Had an awesome time and was able to use the stadium track for another workout afterwards!
