Having limited time, this was an excellent way to see Old Delhi. Sam was a brilliant guide and very knowledgeable. He had plenty of stories about everywhere we went and took time to explain the metro system and even suggestions on where I could spend my remaining time. They don’t get any commissions from shops so I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything or sit through endless demonstration of some product I had no interest in. Well worth it and definitely worth doing!Mr Sugar(sagar the real name)was our tourguide in the slum and old delhi,he was great in presentation and know prefectly this city!!! just amazing!

I went for the 5pm slot having not been out at night in Delhi as I was a solo traveller - I'm so glad I did. The guide Hema was sparkling and shared stories about the history of Old Delhi and what life is like living in the city today. We wound our way up stairs by torchlight, saw Old Delhi markets by rooftop, dodged traders carrying enormous bags of spices on their heads, boarded tuk-tuks and ended in the Gurdwara Sikh temple, which was incredibly humbling. 15,000 people appox eat there a day for free (supported by volunteers and donations) and I was lucky enough to join them. You will never see a bigger saucepan in your life. I also visited the Sanjay Colony and New Delhi with the guide Vijay who was every bit as knowledgeable and entertaining - and clearly an absolute Cricket master (shamefully I do not know enough of this sport). I loved our trip to the Lodhi gardens where we saw monkeys, kites and even a kingfisher as well as stopping by Humayan's Tomb and pausing for lunch which was delicious. On this day we also had a fantastic driver who was calm and an absolute professional at navigating Delhi traffic. The visit to the Sanjay colony is confronting for any Westerner, and a serious prompt to take your head out of the sand and acknowledge the human cost of fast fashion. The tour also includes a trip to doctor's surgery and an insight into how hardworking the people living here are in order to support their families. Reality Gives is a fantastic charity doing incredible work that is equipping children with literacy and computer skills - so support them by booking these tours and telling your friends. This is one of my first reviews on. TripAdvisor and that speaks volumes to how exceptional every tour was that I took part on.We visited old Delhi with our tour guide Vijay from Reality Tours who had met us at our hotel. We visited old Delhi with our tour guide Vijay from Reality Tours who had met us at our hotel. We got the metro into old Delhi which was a great experience in its own right. Everybody on the train was very chatty and friendly. We walked round the markets with Vijay giving us lots of information about the history of the place and the different types of markets. We would never have seen so much if we had been walking around on our own as there are so many little streets and alleyways you wouldn’t know where to begin. It was a pleasure having someone so informative and actually interested in us and what he was telling us. We went to the spices and chilli markets, lovingly called coffin/coughing city either is very appropriate! I already had a tickle cough which soon became a full blown choking fit!! We visited a Sikh temple and the work they were doing there was fascinating. It seemed as if they were feeding the world and his wife. I’ve never seen such big saucepans in my life! All the people working there are volunteers and they never stopped cooking, cleaning, hosing down, smiling and feeding everyone and anyone who wanted fed. They even let the boys have a go at chapati making. We visited a Sikh temple, what a beautiful building dedicated to Shiva. We went on a rooftop and seen views which were stunning. We had a ride in a tuk tuk and were a source of amazement to fellow road users! We had lots of fun as well as having an amazing day and the boys had so many experiences they will never forget. A big thank you to Vijay who took such good care of us and he made the boys feel at ease and they liked him very much. They liked him so much we requested, and got him, when we visited the Sanjay area several days later. We had the most amazing time walking the streets and markets of Old Delhi with Sagar. We had the most amazing time walking the streets and markets of Old Delhi with Sagar. This is a must do tour and the organisation behind it does an incredible job in giving back to the community. Sagar was patient and knowledgeable, we talked and laughed and walked around and he was happy for me to stop and look at the interesting shops and stands and take pictures and ask lots of questions. My daughter was so taken by the visit to the Sikh Mosque. We wish we had more time in time in Delhi to do other tours and we so want to come back and visit again. The quintessential tour of Old Delhi. The quintessential tour of Old Delhi. We specifically sought after a reputable NGO to guide us through Old Delhi and chose Reality Tours on its reputation and merit. It more than lived up to expectations. Our guide Sagar was the consummate professional, he was jovial, affable and knowledgeable. We booked the morning tour (10:00 to 13:00) bearing in mind the summer heat. It was truly a wonderful and eye-opening experience. We learnt a multitude of cultural quirks and insights, a whole array of feasts for the senses. From the endearing yet chaotic spice market to the educational trip to the Gurudwara. The entire tour was fluid and easy going, considering the mayhem usually associated with this part of central Delhi. A credit to the NGO.
