Civita di Bagnoregio is located in Tuscia on the border between Tuscany and Lazio. Discover and Visit the dying city. It is called the dying city because the land on which it stands is slowly falling away and will inevitably disappear when the final pieces crumble into the spectacular Valle dei Calanchi below. Knowing this and knowing that nothing can be done to prevent it makes your visit all the more special, eternal and timeless. Be one of the last people to visit the village before it ceases to exist.
Connected to the rest of the world by a three hundred meter bridge, Civita di Bagnoregio is a charming village which will make you feel you are visiting a world that no longer exists. Made up of old houses, narrow streets and surrounded by beautiful landscapes, walk through this magnificently unique setting. The Romanesque Arch at the entrance to Civita was built by the Etruscans 2, 500 years ago and all that remains of the Renaissance Palace is the facade, the rest collapsed into the canyon. Visit the largest Piazza: the site of donkey races on the first Sunday of June and the second Sunday of September. In the evening, the piazza is the place to be, as what’s left of the town socialises there. Visit Maria’s Garden, follow the main road to the far side of town to see a lovely garden with canyon views. After that transfer to Orvieto

Tutto molto suggestivo. Da consigliare vivamente un weekend in zona.

What a wonderful excursion when looking to do something fun outside of Rome! Our tour guide Andrea was so knowledgable about the history of the beautiful countryside we drove through from our cruise ship in port! The Dying City was nothing short of magical. The walk to the city up the bridge was relatively short with wonderful views of the valley. Charming buildings, churches, to walk around and see- little umbrelled cafes are dotted throughout the village with cascading flowers and cute shops. Incredible visit to a town built in the 1300’s! On to the beautiful town of Orivietto , also perched hilltop with stunning views! Typical Italian charming cobblestone streets, churches, lots of shopping and had an incredible lunch with Andrea there as he continued his story telling of the towns history. Had extra time and he took us to his beautiful hometown on the beach! Andrea was a pleasure to have gotten as our tour guide and we highly recommend requesting him! Thank you for a sensational day in the Italian countryside! We enjoyed a beautiful day at Civita di Bagnoregio. It was sunny, high 50's and very clear. We enjoyed a beautiful day at Civita di Bagnoregio. It was sunny, high 50's and very clear. Our tour guide was friendly and picked us up right on schedule. We drove the 45 minutes from civitavecchia to the site and had two hours to walk around. Our guide then drove us to the charming town of tarquinia for a delicious lunch at cecche e Pepe and then walked is around. He also drove us to the Etruscan tombs for a quick visit before dropping us to the train station to get back to Rome. The only suggestion I would have for improvement is to make it more convenient to go from Rome. For some reason the tour guide thought we were cruise tourists so the meeting point was near the port but it was slightly inconvenient from the train station. Otherwise we had a nice time and appreciated the hospitality.Orvieto da vedere le viuzze e il centro con il duomo meraviglioso.
