In the early 1800s John Grono was the first European settler to land in the sound, which he named after Milford Haven in Wales.

Absolutely awesome day enjoyed every minute... would highly recommend to everyone. We were lucky to see hundreds of temporary waterfalls through out the bus ride and when cruising in the Milford Sound.
