The visit to Mauna Kea for sunset, was spectacular! Also, the stargazing after. Our guide David was so knowledgeable about The volcano, The Stars, Hilo and Hawaii in general. It was a pleasure to spend time with him. We also stopped at Rainbow Falls on our way up. I frequent Hawaii for work, and have already given the information to several co-workers! Loved it! I will use this company again for other tours. My boyfriend and I coincidently had a personal tour with Donna. What a great experience with a great guide. I strongly recommend you pack warm. I had 3 layers of clothes and it was 30 degrees and windy. We chose Arnott’s lodge to do this because we were staying in Hilo and a lot of other companies only offered the tour from Kona. Thank you so much for the unique experience Donna! We had an amazing experience on the Arnott’s Mauna Kea tour. We had an amazing experience on the Arnott’s Mauna Kea tour. Andras was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge on the history of the area, volcanoes, and the observatories on the mountain. He prioritized safety and took extra care in helping us acclimate to the altitude. He also did a great job highlighting stars and constellations in the perfect night sky that we were lucky enough to have. Very highly recommended.Eden our guide was fantastic! Eden our guide was fantastic! He was so incredibly knowledgeable about the volcano and the stars! I recommend bringing layers. It is cold at the top. Please enjoy Eden’s constellation talk! It was fantastic! He uses a long range laser pointer to show the stars and it was PERFECT! Our entire bus was a GREAT group of people which made the entire experience more fun. Eden’s calm and good natured demeanor along with his genuine interest and joy sharing is knowledge really made the tour. Seriously the best star gazing experience we’ve ever had! We also saw the glow of Kilauea!!!! A final note, my husband is 100% blind and Eden made sure he described everything! The vegetation, the sunset colors, the stars. He thoroughly enjoy it! So did everyone else! Thank you Eden for a GREAT tour!
