What to expect

Visit: Malta National Aquarium, Triq It-Trunciera St. Paul's Bay, Qawra, Island of Malta SPB 1500 Malta

The Malta National Aquarium has 51 tanks, including reptiles, insects, and amphibians, as well as Mediterranean fish, including fish that can often be found in Maltese waters, and historical artefacts that can be found in the seas around the Maltese islands.

The main tank inside the Aquarium measures 12 meters in diameter and contains a walk-through tunnel that allows visitors to see the fish much closer. A variety of Indo-pacific animals are housed here, including black tip sharks, zebra sharks, rays, and other exotic species.

An iconic curved shell structure resembling the shell of a starfish houses the Aquarium. The adjacent promenade provides pedestrians with additional recreation facilities, which include a children's play area.

It's not the biggest aquarium I have seen, yet it has quite an extensive variety of marine (and not only) creatures. The tunnel with small sharks is the biggest attraction both for kids as well as adults.

Small but nice aquarium. It is worth the visit. Highly recommend the restaurant, tasty food and sweets, decent prices and friendly staff.

We spent an enjoyable hour and a half here. The place was well laid out and despite the shocking weather wasn’t overly busy. Staff were helpful and friendly. We didn’t use the restaurant but it looked decent. Parking was free and the admission price reasonable.

The aquarium is ok but not as big or as interesting as they could make it. Some of the tanks have no descriptions. Also I don’t like the touch screen displays for those tanks that have it. What is the point after Covid if everyone touches the screen? I didn’t enjoy the visit being masked up in t...

In short …… Overpriced ! Hotel money off offer voucher refused ! Smaller than your average UK Sealife Centre Outdoor playground CLOSED OFF! Gift Shop …,horrendously overpriced and mainly plastic goods …. What we bought broke the first time it was used. Cafe …. Very large … and again pricey!
