Overview
A mature and highly-regarded local guide will provide friendly, entertaining commentary on hundreds of topics covering birds and wildlife, trees, geology, history and folklore on your tour of the scenic roads and byways of the beautiful Magnetic Island. Departing Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal you'll visit all the major sights, including one or two secret spots some locals don't even know about.

Stop At: Pilgrim Magnetic Island, 123 Sooning St, Nelly Bay QLD 4819, Australia
After boarding the bus at Nelly Bay terminal you will meet your friendly local guide who will escort you throughout the day. Our guides are all locals, with a depth of knowledge about life on the island.
After a brief introduction you will make your way through Nelly Bay to the western side of the island. On the way you’ll get some background facts on the island and an introduction to the geography and fauna.

Stop At: Good Ju Ju's Lookout, Nelly Bay Rd, Picnic Bay QLD 4819, Australia
Admire the breathtaking views over Cleveland Bay as your guide explains the island's geography and its relation to Townsville.
Duration: 10 minutes
Pass By: Magnetic Island Country Club, 2 Hurst St, Picnic Bay, Magnetic Island, Queensland 4819 Australia
Pass by one of Greg Norman's favourite holes of golf on the planet
Stop At: Cockle Bay Drive, Cockle Bay Dr, West Point 4819, Australia
Visit Cockle Bay to learn about the early settlers, the wreck of the SS City of Adelaide and some of our local bush tucker
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Picnic Bay Jetty, Picnic Bay QLD 4819, Australia
Visit Cockle Bay and Picnic Bay. Disover the history of the Heritage Listed Picnic Bay Jetty. Take a walk along its length and admire the views towards the mainland.
Duration: 25 minutes
Stop At: Pilgrim Magnetic Island, 123 Sooning St, Nelly Bay QLD 4819, Australia
Leaving the early settlers behind we retrace our steps back to Nelly Bay. Afterwards, the bus will make its way over Arcadia hill where you will be rewarded with stunning views across Cleveland Bay towards the Coral sea

Stop At: Geoffrey Bay, Magnetic Island, Queensland Australia
No visit to the Maggie would be complete without a stop at Geoffrey Bay to see if you can find some of our extremely cute Allied Rock Wallabies. These wallabies are found only in Northern Queensland between Townsville and the Burdekin River.
Geoffrey Bay is also an opportunity to get out of the bus and get up close and personal with our incredible rock formations.

Stop At: Horseshoe Bay Beach, 1 Pacific Dr, Horseshoe Bay QLD 4819, Australia
Climbing the long steep hill towards Horseshoe Bay you will get some breathtaking views across the island. You will then head down the other side into the old farming precinct before we stop for some free time in Horseshoe Bay where a variety of food is available.
During the winter when the butterflies are around we will definitely visit the Butterfly forest for a short bush walk. Its an experience not to be missed and great balm for the soul.
Horseshoe Bay also offers year round swimming with a safe swimming enclosure in place during the summer months. An excellent place to cool off if you bring your swimmers.
You can choose to leave the tour here and stay for dinner in one of the local cafe's or restaurants. Alternatively you can return with the bus to Nelly Bay Ferry terminal or your accommodation.

Overall a great way to see the island and learn some history and fun stories of the area. Also discovered some hidden gems to come back and explore later during different times of the year. Interesting info. Opportunities to hop off the bus and explore a little. Recommend to do this tour early in your stay. Tour guide told some stories which attached meaning to the experiences.

Neil arrived in a small van shortly before our 3pm tour. Since pickup is right outside of the Nell Bay ferry terminal, some people stepped off the 2:15pm ferry from Townsville and were right on time. Neil arrived in a small van shortly before our 3pm tour. Since pickup is right outside of the Nell Bay ferry terminal, some people stepped off the 2:15pm ferry from Townsville and were right on time. Neil was our guide for the almost 3 hour tour. Instead of an hour at Horseshoe Bay we spent less time there and he also took us to the rock wallaby area at Gregory Bay and provided us with the appropriate food pellets. A few rock wallaby’s were spotted. Great itinerary change! Saw a wild sleeping koala high in a tree, heard a bit of history, learned about insects and wildlife, and had a very pleasant tour. Got back 10 minutes before the 6pm ferry and back to Townsville. Great option if limited time. Recommend!Jenner S

Much fun was had touring the island and visiting the bays. Fun and knowledgeable guide, everyone loved seeing the rock wallabies and getting up close to feed them! Local history was so interesting, amazing little island, highly recommend!

The tour was perfect as we only had limited time on the island and it was a great way to experience the island and learn & see as much as we could in our limited time on Magnetic Island. The guide was very informative and it was an enjoyable afternoon.

This is a must when visiting Magnetic Island.! Neil was entertaining and gave us an excellent history lesson of the the island. I would absolutely recommend this tour. We had limited time so we took the shorter afternoon tour but didn’t feel that we missed anything by doing so.
