Learn to Surf in La Jolla
Overview
Our instructors respect each student’s choice regarding his or her level of participation in the lesson, and comfort in the water. You’ll have fun learning how to surf in a safe environment!
Inclusions
- All participants get an Everyday California Rash Guard, and surfboard for 90 minute lesson. Guest may keep the equipment for an additional hour after lesson is over to continue surfing.
- Wetsuits are included
What to expect
Our experienced instructors will teach you the fundamentals of surfing and ocean safety on land, before heading into the water to catch some waves with your group! Continually voted one of the best spots for beginner and intermediate surfers in San Diego, the calm waters of La Jolla Shores are an ideal place to learn how to surf in a fun, yet safe environment.
Throughout the lesson, your instructors will make sure you’re safe and having fun. No experience necessary, all equipment provided.

Holy moly! If you are looking for friendly, knowledgeable and expert customer service, run to Everyday California!!! Jackie is a sweetheart that "held my hand" during the booking process and Nat was an excellent and patient instructor to my nieces during their first surf lesson. Nat is an amazing instructor and his reaction to my nieces getting up on the boards was priceless :) I think he was more excited than the girls. Ha ha! Seriously, everyone that helped us prepare and through the process/lesson was extremely polite and super nice. I highly recommend Everyday California!!Carter was the perfect first surf instructor for my teen daughter. He was patient, cautious and knowledgeable. Carter was the perfect first surf instructor for my teen daughter. He was patient, cautious and knowledgeable. Dean helped our two teen friends who had surfed before and he also was very skilled, professional and patient. I felt they all were very safe. They wear yellow long sleeve shirts over wet suits so they can easily pinpoint the students. Know that it is a good 15 min walk with the surfboard from the store to surf area on the beach. The only suggestion would be to have the rental surfboards down at the beach already and ask for credit card deposit before lesson. That way they can continue surfing immediately after lesson and not have to make the long walk to and from the store.Kids had a great time. I inadvertently scheduled the wrong day and they corrected my mistake with the most professionalism. The surf instructor was top notch and the small group made the experience even better.

I booked lessons for my 10 yo granddaughter and 17 yo Italian exchange student. First, the team inside the store was super friendly and helpful getting us fitted with wetsuits. Be prepared to spend a few extra minutes getting this done: I put mine on backwards the first time LOL. It's a 5+ minute walk from the shop to the beach and we scoped out the places we wanted to eat along the way after the lesson. Next, on the beach the instructors were very clear in their instructions and gave a warm up stretching session then mounting and paddling the board lessons on the beach. Very helpful! Finally, into the surf. It was a pretty windy day and one of the managers came by our group to offer a reschedule if we though the surf was too rough; glad they were concerned for us but the girls wanted to go out and give it a try. Glad they did! They had a blast!!! The instructor, Dan H. was right by their side in the the waves giving tips and coaching and the girls were thrilled when they made it to the water's edge without falling!! Special note: I also had booked my 5yo grandson for the lesson but his dad and I agreed the waves were probably too much for him so we took the option to reschedule him another time. When we returned to the shop to change/return wetsuits, the staff were very friendly and processed this as a credit towards surf lessons another time. Easy peasy!
