What to expect
Meet at our Learn To Surf truck in the car park near the Greenmount Surf Club to change into a long sleeved rash shirt or wetsuit and collect your surf board. Walk on to the beach for some safety and basic instruction information. Begin catching some small waves in waist deep water and then return to the beach for more detailed instruction about how to stand up on your surf board. The remainder of the time will be spent in the water with the instructor helping everyone to stand up. Return to the trailer to drop off the equipment and then take a shower and change.

What a great experience we had, Johnny was outstanding especially since we had never surfed before, we were all able to get up and catch a wave.

He made it fun and easy to understand and encouraged you the whole time. We had dolphins and whales which was an added bonus. You definitely need to add this to your list of things to do while you’re here. I’ll be back!

They were both excellent at explaining technique and giving helpful feedback and encouragement. They were friendly, clearly very skilled, and made the whole experience comfortable, fun, and not overwhelming. It was also completely comfortable doing this class alone without a friend (although that would be fun too). Overall a really positive experience, and I felt like I was genuinely improving my skills over the three lessons.So happy that I have improved from my previous surfing experience in Hawaii! My 14 year-old son and I had a lesson with Johnny. My son is intermediate and I am a beginner and we both gained so much from our lesson. My son improved his technique incredibly - tweaks and feedback that will make significant difference to him developing his surfing skills going forward. He gave me a great starting point and basic skills to work on, as well as the confidence to continue to practice to develop skills! We would both highly recommend a lesson with Johnny - great teacher and great bloke!
