What to expect
Go Ride a Wave offers 2hour surf lessons every day at Broadbeach at 10am and 2pm. Most of all, we provide a safe, fun, exciting experience that everyone can enjoy. The lessons include the use of a long sleeve rash shirt or wetsuit, a soft beginner surf board and 2 hours of instruction and fun. We meet at our van in the car park beside the Kurrawa Surf Saving Club. There are toilets and also showers nearby so you can wash off the salt and sand after the surf lesson. We can also arrange photos to prove that you were able to stand up, if you would like us to.

The Instructor (Blake) was excellent with my 8 year old and 10 year old. The younger one struggled to stand up initially but the Instructor kept working with him until he could do it. Kids thoroughly the 2 hour lesson. Highly recommend.

Booking the activity through the webpage was easy. The activity started on time. Coaches provided long-sleeved shirts and soft surfboards for beginners. They divided the activity into two parts: first, they explained how to stay upside down while riding the wave; In the second part, they explained how to stand on your feet on the table. Sitting on the sand, our two instructors gave simple and clear instructions, and, while in the water, they paid a fair amount of attention to all participants. They were very encouraging and friendly. My boyfriend and I were totally beginners at surfing. I personally was afraid to do this, because I have always been very cautious with the sea. I was convinced when I saw that the classes are very close to the shore. Knowing my limits, I decided to stay on my stomach the entire time while riding the waves, and our coach told me that as long as I was happy with what I wanted to do, they would be too. I really appreciated it. I would recommend this activity for beginners who what to do something outside of their comfort zone; keeping in mind that some strength is needed in the legs and arms anyway. Of course we tried and fell a few times, but that's part of the fun. Our coaches were very supportive. We are only sorry that there was no opportunity to immortalize the experience with photos, but I am sure this will not be the last time we will try to surf.
