Overview

What to expect

Itinerary

Day 1: Visiting Lalibela churches

Pass By: Lalibela - Rock-Hewn Churches, Lalibela Ethiopia
Day -1
We will meet at the airport of lalibela, drive 25km( 30 minutes) within spectacular view.

After you check in the hotel we will drive to sites where we find a concentration of some of Ethiopia most famous Rock hewn churches, mostly referred by many as " the living wonders of the world " this churches are they have been here for at list 900 years , an active christen shrine, spiritual center of the country religious life.

Then we will visit the 1st clusters of churches and this contains :-Bet- Medhalealem , Bet- maryam ,Bet- Meskel , Bet- Denagle , Bet- Mikael & Golgotha
After lunch we will visit 2nd cluster of churches and this contains :- Bet Gabriel & Rafael , Bet Emanuel , Bet Abba Libanos
Finally we will visit st George , the one in a shape of cross and most probably the highlight of your visit to Lalibela.

Day 2: Trek to Asheton Mary monastery & Trek to Lalibela hudad Eco Lodge

After breakfast trek to visit the monastery church of Asheton mary (3200 m)The monastery located 2hr walk from lalibela still Active

Lunch at the lalibela Hudad Eco lodge and spend the reminder of the afternoon watching black Ghelada baboons , mountain hyrax , different endemic birds.
Let afternoon back to lalibela in different direction 2hr on the way we will have a stop in the local village to learn about the life of the local people

Day 3: Drive from Lalibela to Mekele

Pass By: Lalibela, Lalibela, Amhara Region

Day 4: Drive Mekele - Lake Asale - HamedEla

Pass By: Mek'ele, Mek'ele, Tigray Region
Day 4 . Mekelle - Lake Asale - HamadEla 
In the morning, we drive heading to the Southern part of the Danakil Depression, Erta Ale. En route, we meet the local people until our Guide finishes the paper work with the village admin. Afterwards, we proceed driving to the campsite where we leave our cars and start trekking (1.5h) to the top of Erta Ale Mountain. We spend a wonderful night time watching & taking pictures of one of the permanently active Lava Lakes on earth, Erta Ale Volcano.

Overnight: Outside/inside local huts made up of lava rocks

Day 5: Erta Ale - Lake Asale - Hamad Ela

Day 5. Erta Ale - Lake Asale - HamadEla

Early in the morning at 5:30 am, we will have a 2nd chance of watching the lava lake during the sunrise (if interested). We trek (1.25h) back to the bottom, have breakfast and drive to HamadEla. If time permits, we drive to Afdera to swim in Lake Afrera and take bath in naturally hot spring water. After lunch, drive to HamadEla a base camp near to Dallol. After a short relaxation, we continue driving to the wide white salt lake/desert, to meet Caravans (if available) heading back from the local salt mining area to the highlands and to spend the evening admiring the spectacular view of the sunset reflection on the Lake Asale/Karum.

Day 6: HamadEla - Dallol - Mekele

Pass By: Dallol, Ethiopia
Dallol. After a short relaxation, we continue driving to the wide white salt lake/desert, to meet Caravans (if available) heading back from the local salt mining area to the highlands and to spend the evening admiring the spectacular view of the sunset reflection on the Lake Asale/Karum.

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack & Dinner
Overnight: Outside under the stars at HamadEla

Day 6. HamadEla - Dallol - Mekelle
In the morning after breakfast, we start our round journey through the Depression to explore the thermo active springs, unearthly colors, several mineral patterns & acidic fluids of the Dallol Volcano, Salt Mountains (Canyons), the colorful Salt Lake of Sulfur, and the Camel Caravans & Local Salt Mining (if available). Afterwards, drive back to Mekelle where we will arrive at around 4:30pm.
