Visit the “Maison du Gruyères” Le Gruyère AOP is a cheese with a long tradition and its making has been handed down over many generations of cheesemakers both in the alpine and village cheese dairies. You will be guided through a modern world of the senses and our cow Cerise (Cherry) introduces you to the secrets of the Gruyère AOP making.
For your lunch, spend some free time wondering and admire the breathtaking landscapes of the Gruyères village. At the foot of the pre-Alps, you will be enchanted by the charm and picturesque architecture of the medieval town. Breathe pure mountain air and hear cowbells in the pasturelands which surrounded the small suburb. Explore the little town, it's been elected most beautiful village in 2014.

Get to a cheese factory to know more about the Gruyères : Le Gruyère AOP is a cheese with a long tradition and its making has been handed down over many generations of cheesemakers both in the alpine and village cheese dairies. You will reach the Moléson Mountain and have a tasting in a typical Swiss chalet, a friendly hand making cheese factory and enjoy our typical dish: the Fondue.

Description of where to get the bus isn’t quite right. From Metro entrance, cross the street so that you’re on the lake side, and wait by the parking lot for Chateau d’Ouchy. We enjoyed the tour of the Cailler chocalate factory — just realize you don’t see much of the actual factory; it’s more of a history of chocolate coming to Switzerland. But there’s a room where you can sample their chocolates! Gruyere cheese museum was interesting too. We only had about an hour to look around in the town after. If you want to see the castle, bring your own lunch!Don’t even consider this travel / tour organizer. The bus simply never arrived, no explanation ever received. So while it is possible to get a refund, that’s beside the point: I had planned my weekend around this trip, so I wasted a whole lot of precious time. Appalling on their part.

Gruyères cheese factory had already shut down operations for the day, and their audio tour a bit weak. But the town of Gruyères a must-see, plenty of restaurants and reasonable prices. Quick 45-50 minute drive from Lausanne.Roger was our guide. He was great. He was helpful and patient. Explained everything well. Safe driver. The trip and sights were amazing. Plenty of time to see everything although it wasn’t easy to see castle and eat lunch. Restaurant des Remparts in Gruyère was out of this world.
